     Prayer Corner

AOS USA has teamed up with the Confraternity of Our Lady Star of the Sea to pray for all those impacted by the oil spill.  Remember to pray each day at 6:15 p.m., when the ladies of the Confraternity pray together. A suggested prayer is below:

God of boundless love,
At the beginning of creation
Your Spirit hovered over the deep.
You called forth every creature,
And the seas teemed with life.

Through your Son, Jesus Christ,
You have given us the rich harvest of the sea .
Bless our fishers, oil rig workers, merchant mariners, oil rig workers, and all who make a living by the sea.
Protect them from the dangers of wind and rain
And all the perils of the deep.

May Christ, who calmed the storm
And filled the nets of his disciples,
Bring healing to all those affected by this catastrophe.
We pray especially for those fishing families and communities who have already seen their rich fishing grounds of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida closed.

In a special way, we ask God's favor on those
Who are working to contain the oil spill.
May God inspire them and show them the way.
And may He show us ways of being better stewards of His earth,
Protecting his waters and the marine life which are His gifts to us.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

AOS USA Partners with America's Born 2 Lead Network for Grant funds to Assist Gulf Coast Youth

Vote Today, and Every Day until August 31 for a Special Grant Fund!

Dear Friends,

Some of you may be aware that rather than buying commercial time during the Super Bowl, Pepsi chose to set this money aside, to provide money for special needs grants.

America's Born 2 Lead Network is a local group in the Port Arthur area, which has written a grant to Pepsi for a quarter of a million dollars.  This grant is to assist Gulf Coast Youth affected by the BP Oil Spill.

Pepsi has accepted the grant as one that the public will "vote" on.  Whichever of the selected groups that gets the most votes, gets the grant money.

Specifically, this grant will assist in back to
school needs of youth along the Gulf Coast, who are somehow affected by the oil spill.

AOS USA will be working to ensure that, work boat operators, fishermen, oil rig workers, etc who are out of work, or whose work has been affected, will get the word about this fund, so that their children have access to these much needed supplies and clothing to go back to school.

The school supplies will include backpacks, school clothes, paper, etc.  It will also include gift cards for school uniforms and even gas cards for college students going back to school.

By partnering with this group, AOS USA agrees to solicit as many people as possible to "vote" for this grant.  We urge our members, supporters, and other related organizations to "vote" for this grant, and assist in getting the word out to fishers, mariners, and other people of the sea who may be able to access these funds.

AOS USA will also serve as a Consultant to assist the Born 2 Lead Network in finding and reaching out to all People of the Sea in the impacted area, and to ensure that they have ways of proving the occupation and "need" of those applying for assistance.

Please help today!  Go to:

Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit vote.

You can vote early and vote often:)

Sign in each day to vote for this grant through August 31.
