The Board of Directors of the Port Arthur International Seafarers'

Center wishes to invite you to an important press conference

tomorrow, Friday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m. at the Seafarers' Center.

 

This press conference is a joint effort of the Port Arthur International

Seafarers' Center, the Port Arthur Area Shrimpers' Association,

Texas Seagrant, and Catholic Charities.  We have been assisted

in our efforts by Darlene Moody with CDM Consulting.

 

Our local Shrimpers, Fishers and Restauranteurs are being

negatively impacted by the oil spill, though the oil has not entered

our waterways.  People are ASSUMING that all seafood from

the Gulf of Mexico is contaminated.  This will be devastating

to our local Fishermen who have already been hit hard by

Rita, Ike, high fuel prices, and dumping of cheap imported

seafood from other countries.

 

Please come out and support this effort, and learn the facts

about the status of our local seafood from the experts.

This includes speakers from: the Governor's office,

Texas General Land Office, NOAA, the U.S. Coast Guard,

the Port Arthur Area Shrimpers' Association, and our local

Chef's Association.
