Recently a lot of people have been asking questions about essences to help with sleep so this newsletter is dedicated to most parents' favourite 5 letter word.

Sleep is one of the biggest issues in the western world and set to become even bigger as coming changes, both in our internal and external worlds, are having an effect on our sleep.

Sleep is an increaingly big issue for parents and children. There are many reasons for disturbed sleep so you need to figure out what your problem is and then see if an essence below matches that problem.

Here are descriptions of some Indigo Essences that could help you sleep.

Sleep Easy - for when you're scared to close your eyes  
The most obvious one is called Sleep Easy which was designed to help children who are afraid to go to sleep because they think there is 'something' in their bedroom or because they see scary things when they close their eyes. (and I don't mean the bank manager, that's No Fear).

Often these children will want someone in the bedroom with them or want to sleep with the light on. 

Sleep Easy can be used with babies who continually startle and wake up with an anxious expression.  Add drops of Sleep Easy concentrate to some good base oil and gently massage the baby with this mixture before putting them down to sleep. I prefer to use the essences topically in babies - they work very well this way.

Below is an extract from a conversation about essences where I describe how Sleep Easy can help. And in case you're wondering, yes, it can help adults too - if the description fits your problem.

Settle - for when you feel rattly and shaky 
Helps adults and children who can't switch off, who feel too agigated to sleep, who don't feel sleepy, even though they are tired.  This is similar to the feeling you have after you've had too much coffee or after children have been overexcited at a party.

If you feel too agigated to sleep, take a bath with Settle essence and salt in the water, light the bathroom with candles (the Settle candle is perfect for this) as the flickering light is very soporific and sip a glass of water with a few drops of the Settle concentrate in it.

No Fear - for when you feel wobbly in your tummy
Helps adults and children who can't sleep because of anxiety. This is very common at the moment due to the huge changes going on world wide. The usual symptoms are that you go to sleep but wake up between 2 and 4 am with a knot in your tummy. 

A lovely way to use No Fear is to add a couple of drops to some body oil or moisturiser and rub on the tummy area.  You can also put some drops in a glass of water and keep it beside your bed.

If anxiety is the cause of the sleep problem it is important to get help with whatever is causing the anxiety - talk it out with someone or see a professional counsellor. 

Waking from sleep between 2 and 4 am is usually attributed in complimentary medicine to a problem with the liver function caused by a back up, either physical or energetic.  One way to release that backed up energy is to talk - hence the importance of talking about your problems rather than keeping them to yourself.

It is also important to look after your body, especially your liver and kidneys, as they have to deal with the energy of anxiety - cut down on caffeine & alcohol. Breathe deeply in the fresh air. Stop being an adrenaline junkie and learn to sit still every now and again.  Learn how to release any fears you are feeling (see the blog When the Shift Hits the Fan for more ideas on how to do this.)

Bubble
This essence can help when the cause of the sleep problem is electromagnetic stress.  Electromagnetic stress can have far reaching effects on people who are sensitive to it. It dis-organises your energy and can make you feel uncomfortable in your skin.

There is a big build up of electromagnetic stress when many people use mobile phones in a confined space such as a tube or train.  If you arrive home from a commute feeling fried take a shower and add Bubble essence to the shower gel.

Your sensitive child can likewise be affected by being in a class environment lit by fluorescent lights and surrounded by concrete.

Another factor is the proliferation of Wi-Fi. Turn off all wi-fi gizmos when you turn off the lights at night and make sure your bedroom and your child's bedroom don't have computers, tv's or mobile phones switched on at night.

CHANGE TO ESSENCE FORMULATION

The preservative used in the concentrate bottles has been changed from brandy to vodka.  Although brandy has long been the traditional preservative for flower essences, it does contain some additives and is no longer a good match for the vibration of the gem essences.  

 

We find the essences are clearer and stronger in the vodka base and hope you will be as delighted with the clearer vibration as we are.
