New Training Videos for Your Viewing!

Christian CardeColonel Christian Carde-FRA

Colonel Carde, the former director of the French National School at Saumur,   Col. Carde is an FEI I judge and founder of ALLEGE-IDEAL, an international organization for promoting classically correct horses (with superb piaffe/passage transitions). Dedicated to the teaching of horsemanship, Colonel Christian Carde's first riding experiences were in the discipline of show jumping and eventing. He spent 26 years at the Cadre Noir in Saumur, where he became "ecuyer en chef" or head trainer.  He has served in various capacities on the French Olympic Team, competitor, coach, and chef d'equipe over different Olympiads.

New Video-Colonel Carde works with this young mare and its rider on basic submission and acceptance of the bit. An issue we all face no matter the age of our horse or level we ride at. Only after fixing this, can the horse move forward properly and obtain throughness and lightness. You can see very obviously in this video, the difference from beginning to end, the improvement in movement once the resistance is overcome.

New Video-Colonel Carde works with a rider at PSG/S Level, focusing largely first on piaffe work. One of the most important take aways from this session is the basic work ethic of the piaffe session, when to continue to ask for more and when to release and allow the horse to stretch. Additionally, canter pirouette work is fantastic and Colonel Carde shares an excercise that will greatly assist in bettering the pirouettes.

Catherine Haddad-USA

Catherine and her partner, Winymaro are currently the reserve ride for the US Team for WEG 2010. In 2009 Catherine was ranked 7th in the Western European League. Catherine Haddad represented the USA in the 2007 Rolex World Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2006, as a member of the US Team she was named reserve rider for the USEF at the World Equestrian Games. She has lived in Vechta, Germany for the last 10 years, running her own stable, International Dressage.

New Video-Available week of September 20th, watch for newsletter announcement!

Ulf MollerDr. Ulf Moller-GER

Dr. Moller was  one of the great auction riders, producing a string of very expensive horses for the famed Hanoverian Verband auction. Ulf was also the sales manager at the Hanoverian Auction stables in Verden and in 1998 he joined the highly successful private barn, the PSI dressage stables where he is currently the manager under the direction of Ulrich Kasselmann. He has taken the PSI auction to new heights and the PSI horse are most sought after as their auction prices reflect where recently a dressage horse sold for two million euros.

Ulf has a string of very impressive riding achievements. Riding the most impressive stallion, Sandro Hit, he won the best equine of the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses 1999. Also add to Ulf's list of accomplishments, five times Bundeschampion (German Young Horses Championship) from 1999 - 2002, World Champion with 5 year old Don Davidoff in 2000 and placed 2nd in the FEI breeding Championship for Young Dressage horses 2001 riding Placido.

New Video-Ulf trng. rider on a 3 year old-Ulf works with this horse who has been under saddle for 2 months. Discussion of what to focus on at this point, what the expectations should be during this very critical time.

New Video-Ulf trng. rider on a 4 year old-wonderful video to watch and understand better the expected temperment of a horse of this age. Ulf explains his view and how to deal with it. In this training videos he also pays much attention to the discussion of the neck and poll carriage and points out that this shouldn't be worried about much at this age.

Peter Gmoser-AUT

Since 1994 Peter Gmoser has been training horses to the highest level at his training establishment in Sieggraben, Austria. Precision, discipline and patience are the significant trademarks of this charismatic dressage rider.

One highlight of his career was being placed 21st at the Sydney Olympics 2000, riding the holsteiner gelding Candidat. This achievement has been followed by many successes at Championship level, including the European championships in Verden, the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, the Olympic Games Athens 2004, riding Willibalds Don Debussy, as well as the European championships in Windsor 2009, where he finished 18th in the individual ranking and 6th in the Austrian team riding the Oldenburger stallion Cointreau.

Peter has also qualified several horses for the World Championships for young horses in Verden including Ragazzo by Rohdiamant and Segenreich MJ. Additionally he has achieved many victories at National and International shows as well as The World Cup and has won the infamous Dressage Derby in Vienna, 7 times already.

New Video-Peter trng. Belinda Winebauer on 5 year old. Super for being able to see a swingy trot versus non swinging and Peter takes you through how he works on this.

New Video-Peter trng. rider on an 8 yr old- this video works on basics that riders training level through Grand Prix will benefit from. It also goes very in-depth with explanation and visuals for a proper walk pirouette.

Axel Steiner, FEI O Judge

Axel Steiner on Changes in Dressage Tests by Patti Schofler
Buzz about the 2011 national dressage tests has already begun. To stir the discussion, we caught up with Axel Steiner at Sue Curry Shaffer's Fairwind Farm in Santa Rosa, California, to chat about the changes which will be effective December 2010.

Axel has contributed to shaping dressage testing for over 20 years. A FEI "O" and U.S. "S" judge, he has served on the USEF dressage committee for many years and this year chaired the test writing committee. His perspective is broad and expansive and he brings to the table a willingness to try new philosophies, but only if they benefit the horse.

The committee has found over the years that the tests serve as an important training tool which affects the direction of the sport. "We have learned that if something is not in a test, it's often not practiced. So we have to put tools riders need in their tool boxes. For example, the stretchy circle. When we introduced it, people thought we were crazy; they were sure the horses would run away. It's a very intricate, important training tool and now people use it more in training," he explains.
