Members and Fellow Enthusiasts,

We are pleased to bring you 10 new videos that include an assortment of specialty features. There is a saddle fitting video that everyone should watch to ensure your saddle is helping you and your horse and not hindering you in any way.

I would be remiss not to mention the tragic accident involving my friend and DTO Featured Trainer Courtney King-Dye. There is no further bad news at the moment, they have reduced the ventilator to try and get her to breathe more on her own and have reduced the sedation to allow more natural activity to take place, though none has. The brain takes a long time to heal. I hope that each one of you reading this, find a moment, to send positive thoughts and energy to Courtney. She is most definitely a fighter, I believe she will not stop now! Every one of you should be reminded why it is sooo important to wear a helmet!

New Video-Grand Prix/S Level

This video is about getting our horses sensitive to our aids and is applicable to riders of all levels. This video has a big focus on this and focuses mostly on how to bring forth the sensitivity that seems to be lost.

DebbieDebbie McDonald-USA

She and the now retired Brentina,  have had a long and outstanding career together. Together they've helped the US equestrian team win a team silver and team bronze at the World Equestrian games and a team bronze at the 2004 Olympics. In 2003, Brentina helped Debbie to become the first American rider to win the World Cup championship. They also came in third place at the 2005 World Cup. Brentina herself was named the 2005 Farnam/Platform USEF Horse of the Year.

New Video-3rd/M Level

Emphasis on controlling the shoulder, really getting the horse on the outside rein, having complete control of the haunches, the moment its asked for. Lots of valuable excercises to use to accomplish these things.

Catherine Haddad-USA

In 2009 Catherine was ranked 7th in the Western European League. Catherine Haddad represented the USA in the 2007 Rolex World Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2006, as a member of the US Team she was named reserve rider for the USEF at the World Equestrian Games. She has lived in Vechta, Germany for the last 10 years, running her own stable, International Dressage.

New Video-Training/I Level

The focus is how to hold your hands, how to think of the correct bit contact and the importance of making your horse always be forward and in front of the leg. Catherine stresses the point that when her horses head comes up, the answer is to drive her forward dont try to fix it with your hands. She allows the rider to feel how she must have proper contact before the asks for a proper upward transition. There is dIscussion of using the seat to keep the withers up. Catherine also makes big improvements in the flying changes, teaching Annie to use paralel aids.

New Video-PSG/S Level

Catherine gets Jamie to allow the horses frame to lengthen his frame a bit, not holding him together always, so compact. This is accomplished by pushing the hands forward and using the seat to push him toward the bit. Next they focus on getting the trot through with better rhythem and more brilliance. Then the begin to work on building a very nice trot and canter. Work on transitions from sitting to posting trot, emphasizing the need to immediately move with the horse as soon as you sit.

Scheleese197x152Jochen Schleese-GER

We teach these principles as the Saddlefit 4 LifeĀ® philosophy, at the German National Riding School (to Bereiters and Reitlehrer) and to professionals and riders around the world!

New Video-Nine steps to figure out if your saddle fits!

His passion is to educate riders on the incredible difference a properly fitted saddle can make to both horse and rider! The majority of women are riding in saddles designed for men, and experience discomfort and difficulty maintaining proper position in a 'male' saddle. Schleese is the only manufacturer with saddles designed specifically for the female pelvis. I encourage all ladies to experience the comfort of riding in a 'female' saddle! My focus is to communicate Schleese's commitment to educating riders and equine professionals on the importance of maintaining optimal saddle fit, not only to protect horse and rider from long term damage, but to positively improve comfort, performance and communication for horse and rider!

New Video-1st/E Level

Basic relaxing warmup, allowing the green rider to focus on herself. As they move on  they work on the half pass, ensuring that Bridget establishes the shoulder fore first before asking for the haunches to move over. Next they work on the canter departs, which Hilda says that she needs to have more contact with the outside rein, getting balance, to ensure more reliable and immediate canter departs.

New Video-I1/S Level

Hilda gives Lahua some excercises to help get a better change, such as thinking of moving the inside shoulder under the outside rein before asking for the flying change. This provides a better setup and opportunity to be straight and expressive. Next they begin work on the piaffe and passage, which is still in the elementary stages, but Hilda very nicely explains where your thoughts should be moving into and out of the piaffe and passage. Next we move a bit into getting nice square halts and how to fix them when they are not immediately square.

Tried & True-(My personal take on product I have been asked to take for a test drive, in order to be able to share with the community what the average amateur rider may experience with it.)

TheDigitalHorse

I recently spent time on the TheDigitalHorse.com website and found some extremely valuable tools,  most competative riders can greatly benefit from. The site gives you everything you could possibly want around Dressage and Eventing tests. You can click your test of choice and see it digitized on the screen with a computerized horse riding the movement. I very much like the fact that I can see the track of the horse at all times, thus showing me how the movement is supposed to be ridden. The directive is given for each movement within the test and this is valuable so that you can see the purpose of the movement you are showing. I also really liked that there are  excercises given and helpful hints on excercises that are shown to enable you to better be able to accomplish the excercise. I also found the ability to print the test, with diagrams showns of each movement, and the directives listed to be great because you are able to take that to the barn with you for practice and a quick reminder. So all in all this is a very helpful site, something anyone preparing to show would really benefit from. As someone who uses a piece of paper and pencil to sketch out my ring, letters and diagram of what I am supposed to ride, to ingrain it into my brain, this is a huge upgrade, now I can see a little digital horse riding it and instead use mental picturing to envision myself riding the movements. Big upgrade, positive mental picturing and a great tool to prepare for competition or planning your everyday riding.
