Welcome to the first issue of Live Life Well for the new year! With a new year comes new programs, new stories, and a new look for your YMCA. Enjoy the stories below about the exciting things we're making happen across Cambridge & Kitchener-Waterloo.
NEW WELLNESS CENTRE AT ARK
Grand Opening Attended by Donors and MPs
Left to Right: Carol Duke, Stephen Woodworth, John Haddock, Harold Albrecht, Dave Libertini
On January 11th donors, staff, board members and local MPs gathered for breakfast at the A.R. Kaufman Family Y to celebrate the opening of the new wellness centre. Supporters were invited to see the space, and learn about the range of health and wellness programs the YMCA is offering.
Speakers included KW YMCA Board President Dave Libertini, MP for Kitchener Centre Stephen Woodworth, Board Member Carol Duke, and YMCAs of Cambridge & Kitchener-Waterloo CEO John Haddock.
You may have noticed a bright new look in recent Y posters. YMCA Canada has launched a refreshed logo to coincide with their new brand. All YMCAs across Canada are joining to help each other with the update which continues throughout 2012.
A brand is about so much more than the logo. It means the way we want people to think about us. Everything we do from the programs we offer, to our buildings, to chats with members shapes how people know us. The new brand ensures all YMCAs have the same welcoming feeling.
Watch for more information over the next few month.
NEW WHEELS AT ONTARIO EARLY YEARS CENTRE
Thanks Toyota: Our Rav4 outside its new home
Donation From Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada
Thanks to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, the YMCA was one of ten community recipients of a brand new Rav4. We will now be cruising around town in style.
This vehicle allows Early Years programs and services to be offered to families with young children in our community who may not otherwise be able to access our services. By taking our programs and services to locations within our community, transportation barriers are removed for these families. This may decrease isolation for individuals and families, and foster relationships within neighbourhoods.
