Checking in with Vic Wild

A lot has changed for me this year. I quit the US Snowboard team to ride for Russia. So far its been a great change except I cannot compete until hopefully February. By switching nations I now have the support that I need to continue racing and win world cups when I do return.

So far the season has been awesome. We just had one of the biggest world cup events ever in Jauerling Austria. About 7 thousand people showed up for the night event. Though not being able to compete makes it hard to watch, events like Jauerling make me feel very good about the sport I invest so much in.

Not being able to compete allowed me to focus on technical riding and equipment for the first half of this winter and now I am seeing the results in training. In many ways taking time away from racing and instead focusing on equipment and my technical skills has been a blessing but I am ready to start racing.

Quick tip- If you buy some new Toko brushes this winter make sure to put an arrow on one end so you only use the brush in one direction, this will make your brush perfrom well for a very long time. I recommend at least having a brass and horsehair brush in your tuning kit. Always start brushing tip to tail usually with brass and finish with something less aggressive, either horsehair or nylon.
