A Note from Gael Greene

Dear Friends and Family,

To be officially declared redundant by New York magazine, long the oracle and chronicler of what's hot and raos merlotwhat's not, is painful. I had dared to think I was embedded in the magazine's DNA after 40 years of critiquing restaurants.  It felt good writing my 246 word Insatiable Critic column every week for the new New York in its current glowing renaissance under Adam Moss.

But forget all that. I'm out. Fired.  If you want to read more about what happened please go to BITE: My Journal on InsatiableCritic.com.  Also check out my initial reaction - find "What a Shock" in the Short Order box on my home page and click.

I hope you'll linger a while. If you grew up reading my reviews and feel nostalgic, or if you're curious about the days when striped bass was an exotic fish and cholesterol had not yet been invented, click on Vintage in the navigator.  Early articles and reviews date back to Papa Soulé Loves You, June 13, 1965.

Marvel over the curiosity of Sixties haut French snobisme as documented in La Caravelle: Insult á la Carte, May 19,1969.  It's Not Nice to Fool with Mother Kaufman documents the Great Saloon war of August 8, 1975.

I hope you'll visit my site more often now that it will be the only place in the blogosphere to check out what's new that I love and what's not worth a detour.

Break an egg,

Gael

P.S. Scroll down in BITE to read about feeling French at Daniel.
