DIY Network :: DIY FYI Animated TV Spots
OverviewDIY Network had been utilizing a variety of internal and external resources to develop their popular animated "FYI" spots for on-air promotional and sponsorship opportunities. They needed a single resource to manage internal and external suppliers and to develop more than 50 "FYI" spots required for 2006. They enlisted Infographics - who had been the source for managing the development of the "FYI" content from original tip ideas to final animation - to take ownership of the entire development process. Client Objectives- Utilize one external resource to take ownership of and manage the development of all the spots required for the 2006 season.
- Minimize touch-points and time requirements for DIY staff to manage/approve the development of the spots.
- Streamline development process and if possible, shorten development time.
- Maintain the established, high-degree of freshness and variety in the design and presentation of the spots.

Infographics Solution
Infographics held cross-functional team meetings to establish and map a process to use multiple resources to produce the spots and provide them to DIY Network in a digital, ready for air form. - The team developed the "FYI" spots in batches of 10 - working through the various internal and external suppliers to provide script development, storyboard, voiceover, animation, music development and post-production services.
- By using a variety of resources, the Infographics' team was able to keep the spots fresh and lively while delivering a steady stream of finished product.
Results
- Producers and directors were able to review and manage the work-in-progress much more effectively and efficiently - resulting in less hands-on time, less demand for internal resources, and fewer touch points.
- DIY was able to reduce the overall time required to develop the spots by more than 33% over the previous season.
