From Pastor Jim

Dear Friends,

We had our best Vacation Bible School ever!  67 children and over 30 adults and youth all experienced a high energy week of learning to trust God. It culminated with our own Sean Hogan, landing a National Guard Helicopter on the back lawn!  Talk about a cool VBS!!  Way to go Tina, Joie and team!

God is GOOD!  ALL the time!
Your pastor and friend...

Planted In The House Of The Lord

After conducting a series of interviews with elderly people, author Don Gold published the book Until the Singing Stops: A Celebration of Life and Old Age in America.

Gold loved and admired his grandmother, and it was the memory of her that moved him to meet and learn from other elderly people. He recalls that on the way to one of his interviews, he got lost on a dusty country road in Missouri. When he pulled into a farm to ask for directions, a teenager came up, listened, shrugged his shoulders, and then replied, "Don't know." So he drove on. A few miles farther down the road, he stopped again at a farmhouse. The farmer, who was an old man, graciously gave him flawless directions.

Perhaps, Gold mused, that experience sums up what he was searching for when the memory of his grandmother sent him out to find people like her. He was looking for someone to guide him in his life journey.

If you're "young," seek out older people who have been drinking deeply from God's love and goodness throughout their life. They have wisdom to share that will help you so that you also might flourish and grow in your faith (Ps. 92:12-14).

Dear Jesus, take my heart and hand,
And grant me this, I pray:
That I through Your sweet love may grow
More like You day by day. -Garrison

If at first you don't succeed, try doing it the way your wife told you to.

If at first you don't succeed, then sky diving is not for you!

"Our circumstances are not an accurate reflection of God's goodness. Whether life is good or bad, God's goodness, rooted in His character, is the same." - Helen Grace Lescheid

An elderly woman died last month. Having never married, she requested no male pallbearers. In her handwritten instructions for her memorial service, she wrote, "They wouldn't take me out while I was alive, I don't want them to take me out when I'm dead."

A police recruit was asked during the exam, "What would you do if you had to arrest your own mother?" He said, "Call for backup."

A Sunday School teacher asked her class why Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem. A small child replied: "They couldn't get a baby-sitter."      ---------
A very dirty little fellow came in from playing in the yard and asked his mother, "Who am I?"
Ready to play the game she said, "I don't know! Who are you?"
"WOW!" cried the child. "Mrs. Johnson was right! She said I was so dirty, my own mother wouldn't recognize me!"

"When we commit ourselves to times of solitude with the Lord, we cannot know what will happen...How we will change, in what directions we might grow. But we can be certain that time with God will result in something good, something beneficial for us and for those around us." - Penelope J. Stokes
