They finished all the requirements for confirmation and prepared for their final exam. On Sunday, they went before the elders and passed with flying colors!
Last Sunday we also baptized seven people.

Fleming Island High School Baccalaureate was at our church last Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Over 200 people attended a worship service that the Senior Class of 2012 officers planned themselves. Mr. Sam Ward, principal of FIHS, gave the greeting and opening remarks, while Mr. Poole, a FIHS teacher, gave the keynote address. Our own Mike Horst was invited to give the message. (Mike did a GREAT job.) I had the honor of closing the service out with a blessing and benediction. A special thanks to our hospitality ministry who provided an awesome reception after the service and to our Elders and staff who helped greet people and clean up afterwards.
This Sunday is our annual youth lead worship service. It is always an awesome event. It is also Pentecost Sunday. This is the time where we remember the Holy Spirit filling the disciples and the start of the first Church. Traditionally we wear red to remember this awesome act of God. God is GOOD! ALL the time!
Your pastor and friend...

P.S. We are looking for someone who wants to help out in the office organizing our library of books. If you are interested please email Sara @ saradryden@myfipc.org.

Q: What does an English barber do for a living?
A; Eclipse.
A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan.
She asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?"
A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence: "I think I'd throw up."
Funny Wise Thoughts:
- No one ever says "It's only a game." when their team is winning.
- Be careful reading the fine print. There's no way you're going to like it.
- Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies running around with tattoos? (And rap music will be the Golden Oldies!)
- Money can't buy happiness but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Corvette than in a Yugo.
- Business conventions are important because they demonstrate how many people a company can operate without.
- Scratch a cat and you will have a permanent job.
Where there is great love, there are always miracles. - Willa Cather
A visitor once asked, "Does it ever rain in Arizona?" A rancher quickly answered, "Yes, it does. Do you remember in the Bible where it rained for 40 days and 40 nights?" The visitor replied, "Yes, I'm familiar with Noah's flood." "Well," the rancher puffed up, "We got about two and a half inches of that." Lazy fact #126744368842085: you were too lazy to read that number
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt
As the coals from our barbecue burned down, our hosts passed out marshmallows and long roasting forks. Just then, two fire trucks roared by, sirens blaring, lights flashing. They stopped at a house right down the block. All twelve of us raced out of the back yard, down the street, where we found the owners of the blazing house standing by helplessly. They glared at us with looks of disgust. Suddenly, we realized why......... we were all still holding our roasting forks with marshmallows on them. |
