Happy New Year to you.  We wish you joy, happiness and tight skin around your neck area. Scratch that -- we wish you incredible wealth and physical prowess.  In any case, we hope your New Year's resolutions will include not making any more resolutions, and instead, making plans to come sit and laugh at our bar with a bunch of friends.
Dear Diamondback Friends,
So much to be excited about. And thank you.
We want to start the new year off with some gratitude for the old year. Thank you, everyone, for making the Diamondback such a wonderful place. Thank you to our incredibly hardworking staff and their families. Thank you to John Batchelor for a seriously awesome review in the Winston-Salem Journal's Relish Magazine on December 22 (more on that below) - we love you, man. Thank you to Macallan for making your 12-year-old scotch so incredibly smooth and ... oops, see we're getting off track. But we're thankful.  Thank you.

Now On To All Sorts of Exciting Upcoming Events
We're calling this our "Winter" Newsletter because there's so much coming up in January and February that we figured we'd better just let you know what's happening well in advance. Get out your iPhone 4s and tell Siri to start putting these dates in pronto. In January, we'll be hunkering down to watch a bunch of great football and basketball and offering some delicious food. We're having a fun Oyster Roast on Thursday, Jan. 19, and a "Tailgate" BBQ on Jan. 31 when Carolina plays at Wake. We'll also have a fire in the fireplace, fish in the fish tank and paper tablecloths so your children will be entertained and you can stay focused on what's important:  the games.*

In February, we'll having one of our famous Crabondanza Seafood Spectaculars with fresh crab, oysters and the works when Duke plays at Carolina (on Feb. 8). We're working on an incredible Valentine's meal for Tuesday, Feb. 14, and we are ready for some romance around here, friends.  Please note we will be closed on February 5 for Super Bowl Sunday because it would be un-American not to let our sports-loving staff stay home and watch the big game with some microwaved nachos.

Our Inclement Weather Policy Is Always in Effect (Even Though It's Been 60 Degrees Outside and You Should Probably Be Wearing Sunscreen)
When we do have a light dusting of snow, an ice storm, a real blizzard, snow mixed with rain or whatever combination of nasty weather is normal for this year, the Diamondback will be open to serve you with excellence. Bring those frozen little children on in and we'll make a party of it.  That's what it's all about, you know.

Thanks again and Happy New Year, everyone.
-- Kimberly and Murphy
*We're just joking here, of course.  Nothing is more important than Little Timmy and Suzy.

VALENTINE'S AT THE DIAMONDBACK
Tuesday, February 14
Dinner service begins 5:30 pm
Listen, we know how to do Valentine's right. Our chefs are working on a Valentine's menu with enough aphrodisiacs to make Viagra redundant. We'll have oysters, champagne specials, truffles, dark chocolate desserts and so much more.  Now, let's be honest: Valentine's does get very busy here at the DB, so don't wait until the last minute to call and make your reservation -- you will be in the doghouse and you will be unhappy. Also, if you say a month early, "Listen honey, I really want to take you out somewhere wonderful for Valentine's and I've already made a reservation at the Diamondback," you'll be able to milk this Valentine's for an entire month.

Also, our staff is interested in having some excitement during our Valentine's dinner service.  So if you are planning to get engaged and have a 10-carat diamond ring that you'd like stuffed into one of our famous crab hushpuppies as a surprise, please just let us know.*
*Our lawyers would want us to add here that if your supermodel bride-to-be bites down on a big diamond in a hushpuppy and cracks her tooth in half and ends up looking like scary Toothless Joe, we are not technically liable.

TRIVIA NIGHTS FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T HATE THE S.A.T.

You think you're so darn smart ... oh, and it turns out you are. So we invite you to join us for a night with other brainy people at our Tuesday trivia night.  If you know what the square root of things are and what happened in 42 B.C. in a small town in some place most people have never heard of, boy do we have a game for you.  So head on over on Tuesdays at 9:00 pm, take advantage of our drink and appetizer specials, and have a little fun. All craft cocktails are just $7.50, and you don't have to have a degree from Harvard to know they taste darn fine. See you on Tuesday.
Awesome Relish Review
WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL'S RELISH MAGAZINE CALLS DIAMONDBACK GRILL A "PERENNIAL FAVORITE"
Yahoo!  You know we normally shy away from fame and stardom. But not today. And we thank you, John Batchelor, for the wonderful review that will no doubt bring some new, amusing, famous and wonderful food lovers through the doors of the DB. And we'll be ready -- oh yes we will. We hope you'll take just a moment to read the article (the link is below), especially where John says, "With good food and good service, Diamondback joins a short list of personal favorites." We're mighty proud of this, and we thank John for loving the DB.

CURBSIDE TAKEOUT -- FOR BUSY, CLEVER MOMS
Tired? Sick of cooking?  Wonderful. We love to cook, and we'd love to make your family a delicious dinner and bring it out to your car for you. Just dial (336) 722-0006 and give us about 20 minutes, and we'll have it all packed up and ready to go.  You feed that family and then you put yourself in a warm bath with bubbles and eat some bonbons.  Dr. Oz and Oprah would approve!*

diamondback grillWORK DOWNTOWN -- COME CHECK OUT OUR DOWNTOWN LOCATION!
The Downtown Diamondback has delicious homemade food for folks who are working hard and could use some delicious Diamondback cooking during the day. Sandwiches, soups, salads and a nice big couch are all available.  We're located in the lovely Park Building. Come see us.

*Our lawyers would want us to add here that we have made up that Dr. Oz and Oprah would approve and, in fact, they might want you to go to the gym or do some weight training instead of having the bubble bath. We really don't know what they'd want, do we.  We do love Dr. Oz and Oprah, and we want to invite them to come eat the delicious crab hushpuppies that John Batchelor from Relish loved so much. Thank you, John Batchelor.
