FEBRUARY AT THE DIAMONDBACK
big love. big tvs.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for FEB. 5, 6, 7
Due to the inclement weather, the Diamondback will, of course, remain OPEN.  Then again, if our power lines snap and we have no stove to cook on well, that will be a different story.  We invite all mothers, snow dads, adventurous adults and everyone else to join us this weekend at the Diamondback so we can make life fun.  Phillip and Jason, our professional bartenders will be ready for you tonight at 5:00 pm.  We invite all professional therapists to come post up at the bar as well.  We might have some temporary snow insanity on our hands.

Going crazy?
Yes, many of you are waking up this morning seeing the white, fluffy snow and are now muttering expletives under your breath.  Perhaps something like, "$%&*! snow!"  And many of you have already been in the house with small children for oh, this would make six days.  Moms, you have earned a month off and a trip to Turks and Caicos to have your back massaged.  But since that just isn't going to happen, we invite you and your family to the Diamondback tonight for hot chocolate, brunswick stew and double martinis.  Maybe triple since everyone is going to have to walk home anyway. Head on over and bring cards, games, Nintendos DS's in and we'll just make a great night of it, okay.

There's so much happening this month, we don't even know where to start
February is a wonderful month for lovers, late-night folks and sports fans.  It's going to be action-packed around here.  On Sunday, February 14, we'll be having our annual Valentine's celebration, and yes, we do like to go all out. Our chefs are already planning a delicious, romantic dinner.  Where else can you go for chocolate, champagne, gourmet food and TV?! Reservations highly recommended (336-722-0006).  On February 16, please join us for our Mardi Gras Madness party.  This is our annual "Make-A-Wish Celebrity Fundraiser," and we'll have King Cake, free beads, free masks and other fun party favors.  We want to encourage everyone to get big tables together and come out for this.  And special thanks to our Mardi Gras Queen - Ellen Christian.

logoDon't forget: the Winter Olympics are coming up February 12 and we are psyched.  Ice skating, hockey, snowboarding, luge and more.  There's nothing like having a 60" HD TV when Shaun White is doing double McTwist 1260s (and yes, that is his new trick).

And lastly, don't forget to head on over for game nights.  We have some great basketball this month, including: Duke at Carolina on Wednesday, February 10 (game time 9:00 pm) followed by Carolina at Wake on Saturday, February 27 (game time 2:00 pm). More on the games below and on the calendar.

Thank You for Making Us Your Snow Destination
We loved seeing everyone in their Eskimo uniforms last week.  It was a party every night with sledders and fun neighbors. We had a group of 21 people one night who just came on over from Arbor Road still covered in snow.  We liked that.  Made us feel like we were in Colorado, living the good life at an apres ski chalet.  Looks like yet another snowy weekend and we'll be right here with a warm fire going and Phillip and Jason, our professional bartenders ready to make it right.

OOOs and XXXs,
Thanks everyone and stay warm.  Moms with young kids, hang in there.  Our bar opens at 5:00 pm.

Join Us for Game Nights!

February is a fantastic month for college basketball, and we're psyched about some of the upcoming games.

On Tuesday, February 9, join us to watch Boston College at Wake Forest at 7:00 pm.  We're going to open the kitchen a half hour early at 5:00 pm so you can have dinner before the game and not feel rushed.

On Saturday, February 13, we'll have Georgia Tech at Wake Forest (game time 8:00 pm).  Come on over and watch with friends. We'll have all your Diamondback favorites including big juicy burgers, sauteed crab cakes and fresh oysters.

On Wednesday, February 10, Carolina plays Duke at Chapel Hill at 9:00 pm.  This should be a great night and all fans are welcome. Due to this particular rivalry, we ask please no shoving, hitting or throwing food at other patrons while at the Diamondback.

UNC plays at Wake Forest on Saturday, February 27 (game time 2 pm). If you're heading to the game - stop on by.

The big opening ceremony will be held on February 12 starting at 6:00 pm.  We'll try to think up something clever like serving Goldschlager, Cuervo Gold, Bacardi Silver and red/white/blue nachos.  Come join us to watch these amazing athletes.

Many thanks to Ellen C., our 2010 Mardi Gras Queen!
It's always a little crazy around the Diamondback on Mardi Gras night.  We actually get our beads straight from New Orleans, along with real King Cake, coins and other party favors.  We want you to make your reservations early for this one and invite friends (this is definitely a great night for a group). Find the baby in the King Cake and you get to be king for the year.  We'll also be serving some spicy New Orleans specialties.  Ellen C. will be there as our official Mardi Gras Queen and she will be receiving a beautiful diamond studded tiara (don't worry - we won't need insurance on this one.)  We wish we had an ermine cape laying around somewhere... oh well.  Liz V., thank you for your glorious reign last year.  For reservations, please call (336) 722-0006 and thanks for supporting Make-A-Wish!!!
