Dear ,

Well, April is off to a great start already...on every street corner there is now someone wearing a light blue Carolina logo with a new lease on life. Happy people are a little happier. Grumpy people are a little less grumpy. Yes, indeed, miracles happen every day.

white wineSpring is wonderful: nice green grass, a chance to eat the yummy heads off little chocolate bunnies, delicious organic veggies starting to grow in fertile dirt and well... taxes. (Perhaps someone with an uhappy childhood made the decision to slip that last one in.)

Well, taxes schmaxes. We're ready to enjoy the warm weather ahead and seize the day.

Lots of excitement at the DB this month:  we're starting back on a favorite Diamondback tradition -- Daily Specials (the Special part is that you won't have to pay as much). So now you can enjoy incredible food -- at a great price -- 7 days a week. More on that below. We just figured everyone's got to do their part to get through this economy. Gloom and doom seem less daunting with a nice glass of chardonnay and a surf & turf special.

golfThis month we'll also be watching
the Masters, celebrating Easter, catering more than 4,000 people at the High Point Furniture Market and more. And here's some jaw dropping news -- this May the DB will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary. And we'll say it right here and now:  we couldn't have made it without you. Thank you -- more news on that below.

Hope everyone is doing great. Head on over for dinner and let us take good care of you.  Thanks - Kimberly and Murphy

Upcoming Events
bracket contestAnd the brilliant winner of our 2009 NCAA Bracket Contest is...Elizabeth M.!
Elizabeth M. congratulations and you will now receive your 15-minutes of fame, glory and a $25.00 gift certificate.  Elizabeth is our all knowing, all seeing patron who correctly selected 6 out of 8 of the top 8 teams, and went on for the victory by correctly picking the most teams who made it to the NCAA Final Four.  Our #2 Top Scorer was Gray G. Gray comes from a family of past winners and the glory of being the Bracket Contest Winner was nearly his.  In position #3 we had Sheldon E. Sheldon had it all right until X.  And heading up with a fantastic 4th place was our very own 10-year old savant Jay G. (No nepotism here brothers and sisters -- that's all skill!) This year we had nearly 40 contestants in our 2009 NCAA Bracket Contest -- the most ever. We thank all of you who entered and we hope you'll go for the glory again next year.

Naturally we will not show our "biggest loser" brackets because that would be naughty.  However we will note that some of these bracketeers were beaten by 8-year old children, clever elderly women and of course, the President. But that's sports baby.  Better luck next year.
ball with cloudsCoverage of The Masters
April 9th - 12th
For those of you who won't be watching the Masters on a little green tuffet of grass in Augusta -- we certainly hope you'll join us and watch the Masters right here at the DB.  We'll see if Tiger is really back -- or not. If you want to watch afternoon coverage of the Masters, technically our bar is not open until 5 pm -- but we'll be happy to turn on the TV and serve you a cold one at 4:30 pm.

pink flowerAdministrative Assistants Day
April 22nd
Since most of the Administrative Assistants actually do all the work -- we recommend you bosses out there not forget this essential day.  Naturally we recommend giving your Administrative Assistant a certificate for a beautiful dinner at the Diamondback Grill.  And since you'll probably forget to do it -- maybe you should just ask him or her to make the call themselves. (336) 722-0006.

hope du jour

Tuesday, May 5th
Join us for Hope Du Jour- a Fundraiser for Crisis Control Ministry

Crisis Control Ministry helps feed hungry people every day of the year.  And Murphy actually helped start "Hope du Jour" -- a fundraiser where local restaurants contribute 10% to Crisis Control. Join us for a delicious dinner and do something nice for the community.

What's Hot
fat tire beer logo New Beers
This month the Diamondback will be premiering two new beers:  Fat Tire (from Fort Collins, CO) and Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale (from Atlanta, GA -- on draft). Both these beers are incredibly popular and now, well, we've got 'em. Fat Tire comes in a giant 22 ounce bottle so while your friends are waiting to get Phillip's attention you'll still be sipping a cold one. Please note: Fat Tire has been selling like hot cakes so we do run out.  If we've got it -- that's the time to try it.  P.S. These beers both have cool web sites.  Check them out:  Sweetwater | New Belgium.
Our surprise hit -- Oyster Nachos.  Who knew?!
A surprise hit at the DB is our new Oyster Nachos.  And now this incredibly tasty new sensation is literally flying out the door and we've had people asking for more! Our exclusive Oyster Nachos features flash fried select Gulf oysters (big ones) on flour tortillas with chipotle aioli shredded lettuce and homemade pico de gallo. 6-8 nachos per serving. Absolutely delicious -- and your personal trainer will commend you for having all that healthy lettuce. Come in and try some today.  $10.00.

P.S. Sorry we don't have a lovely picture of our delicious Oyster Nachos yet.  We could show someone eating them but this is a hands on dish and that might be a bit unappetizing. Just come see -- and eat --for yourself!
root beer floatNew beer on tap:  Root Beer
We're returning to our roots here at the DB with an all time classic. So for a limited time we'll be having Root Beer on tap.

Bring the kids in for an ice cold Root Beer or a Root Beer float. So sweet you might have to wash it down with a Corona -- but so good.
Also Going On
martini glassesNew wines to try - just in time for tax season
Couple of new wines you may enjoy trying next time you're in:
Luna Freak Out (peculiar name, lovely wine) Inama Soave Classico and Mason Savignon Blanc. Quoting Murphy, "Spring brings to mind racy, refreshing whites with a kiss of citrus."  Of course, he was perhaps drinking wine when he said that.  You may already know that the Diamondback offers the biggest pour in town -- nearly 1/3 of a bottle in every glass. We also offer 40+ wines by the glass so you can pair your wines with your food.  And if you would like help picking out a wine that goes with your food choice -- just ask. Then again if you order fish with a side of pork well, then sugar, you'll be on your own.

It's true you are seeing a bunch of martini glasses pictured in this wine picture. Maybe we're getting ready for a bunch of wild women ready to escape the rigors of being frugal 24/7.
WFU graduationWake Graduation
We have lots of Wake students who are about to graduate and we certainly thank you for your time at our bar.  If your parents are in town, bring them on by the DB and show them you've been spending your college years constructively.  Graduation weekend will be packed -- please make your reservations today (336) 722-0006.  Thanks!
jelly beansFYI - Closed for Easter and 4.17.09
The DB will be closed on Easter Sunday so our staff can stuff themselves with margarita tasting Jelly Beans.  FYI - we'll also be closed for a private party on April 17th.

ice cream sundae Sundae Sundays
Treat your kids to something delicious -- and be a cheapskate at the same time. Every Sunday, kids can enjoy a beautiful ice cream sundae with chocolate and a cherry for just $1.00.  They'll be happy -- you'll be happy.  We do have a lot of families on Sunday nights anyway -- plus we have a nice big aquarium to entertain your children so you can do something astonishing -- like eat your own dinner in peace.
saladGoing Green.
This spring and summer look for lots of locally sourced, organic vegetables and salad greens. We are proud to have relationships with several local farmers and it's true:  fresh food tastes, well, a whole lot fresher.

Thanks everyone for making the DB a fun place to be for the last 20 years.  We could never have made it this long without wonderful friends and faithful, fabulous folks who love coming in for great food. We'll have more news about our 20 anniversary in the next e-mail and we hope you'll join us.  THANKS! - Kimberly and Murphy
