50 can be a wonderful age. Unless of course you've been telling your wife that you're much younger for nearly two decades. And so, after 16 years the harmless deception is over -- Murphy is not 42.
Find out what we'll be doing on August 7th to mark Murphy's 50th below. Besides dealing with middle age madness, we're planning an incredibly fun month at the Diamondback.
Join us for all of our three special events - #1. Our Hot Summer Chill Out Party (Saturday, August 11th).
#2. A traditional New England Clam Bake (with the Panthers vs. the Patriots that same night) on Friday, August 24th.
#3. Our (wildly popular) Wine & Tapas Night. This month: "The Reign in Spain" is set for Thursday, August 30th. More details on all of these below.
This month we'll also introduce our delicious "Create-Your-Own-Salad". We've gone wild on salad and we're actually putting checklists in the middle of the table so you can choose from over 60 fresh ingredients. Now you can make the salad of your dreams.
So while the school buses may be getting ready to roll, we say let's enjoy summer for a little longer. Stop by and kick back at the Diamondback. Especially you 40 something year olds (that are really 50).

WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS MONTH
August 7th (Tuesday) -- MURPHY'S 50TH BIRTHDAY -- The one night that it pays to be 50+. If you're closer to 70 than 30 -- we'll happily give you a 10% discount on your dinner. And no Murphy won't be there... he'll be off searching for his youth.
August 11th (Saturday) -- Hot Summer Chill Out Party & the opening of the Panther's season -- Fabulous food with a spicy/icy theme. Your taste buds have been waiting for this. Drink specials include: $2.00 ice cold beers and $4.00 mixed drinks. And yet another reason to come: the Panther's season opener will be on a bunch of big tvs at 8:00 pm.
August 15th (Wednesday) - First night to "Create-Your-Own-Salad". Now you can choose from over 60 (yes, you read that right) fresh ingredients. Chop it, toss it, make it just the way you want. $8.95 for 10 items.
August 24th (Friday) - New England Clam Bake (and Panthers vs. Patriots). We'll be featuring all of your summer favorites: fresh Maine lobster, peel and eat shrimp, potatoes, fresh corn, watermelon and more. Plus we'll have the Panthers game on a bunch of big HDTVs.
August 29th and 30th (Wednesday and Thursday) - Yankees and the Red Sox get ready to Rumble - 2 nights dedicated to baseball fans. Drink specials will include $2.00 beer and $4.00 mixed drinks. Wear your colors and come see us both nights for the stretch run. Games start at 7:05 pm both nights.
August 30th (Thursday) - Wine & Tapas Event - "The Reign in Spain" We love wine night! Join us for our 3rd Wine & Tapas extravaganza and let us dazzle you with an 8 course indoor picnic fiesta featuring Spanish wines, tapas and more. Bueno! Our last two wine nights have been sold out -- make your reservations fast! $40.00 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Maybe it was the AARP application, the cold calls from long term care agents & the letters from the assisted living facilities that finally tipped Kimberly off. But the cat is out of the bag.
To celebrate the denouement of this thrilling life story, the Diamondback will cheerfully offer a 10% discount on dinner on August 7th to anyone who is closer to 70 than 30.
$2.00 beers and $4.00 mixed drinks will be available to ease the malaise of all aging adults. Please note that Murphy will not be in the restaurant that night - but rather hiding somewhere.

 Chill out and celebrate the kick-off to the Panther's hot 2007 season.
Dare to go spicy. We're going to wake up your mouth with 5 Alarm BBQ ribs, spicy Thai chips, blacked Salmon and Tuna and New Orleans style spicy shrimp. Then cool things down with some homemade gazpacho and our signature salads.  Bueno! Make reservations now for "The Reign in Spain" -- our next divine Wine & Tapas event coming Thursday, August 30th. The first two of these events have been sold out! "The Reign in Spain" will feature an 8 course tapas extravaganza that feels like an indoor picnic.Selections will include: paella, tortilla espanola, chorizo deviled eggs, fried manchego, cod and caper croquettes and more.
Murphy and Tabatha Smith (from American Premium Beverage) will be on hand once again to talk about the different Spanish wines in the flight.
One important note -- please make your reservations before Thursday, August 23rd. This event may fill up fast and we want you to be with us.

NOTES FROM JULY'S "OCEAN'S 11" WINE AND TAPAS NIGHT: We had an incredible sold out crowd in July. Sincere thanks go out to everyone who made the night so enjoyable. In fact, we'd put some folks together at the same table who didn't even know each other and now they're coming back next month -- together! These events really are a blast. 1. Fall sports. Football - we've missed you. We're psyched about fall sports and we can't wait to see the Diamondback packed with sports fans. Yes, this is the place to be place to see your favorite sports teams in action. We're icing down our beers and getting ready. Saturday 8/11: Panthers vs. NY Giants at 8 pm. Friday 8/17: Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles at 7 pm. Friday 8/24: Panthers vs. Patriots at 8 pm. Thursday 8/30: Panthers vs. Steelers at 8 pm. Check it out on our 67" DLP 1080i HDTV.
2. Our Curbside Take-out Service delivers tasty food fast. School is coming... so is soccer, ballet, gymnastics, cub scouts, football and everything else. Use our speedy, convenient curbside take-out to buy time (and sanity). Just 1) call and order your dinner. 2) Park in the designated spot on the side of the restaurant. 3) Relax while we bring everything out to you. 4) Sign and go. That's it.
3. Sip Sip. If you haven't seen our 20' wine bar, well, we want you to. If you're a neighbor just walk on over. You'll notice on our new wine menu you can choose a 2 1/2 ounce taste, a 7 1/2 ounce glass or a bottle for sharing. We proudly serve 45 wines by the glass. Pair one of them with our Tapas specials (written on the chalk board on the other side of the big TV). We're here 7 nights a week. Come when you're ready to have some fun.
4. Another big birthday this month: Bernard is turning 65. Bernard has been part of the Diamondback family for 18 years (in fact he's Jay's Godfather). When we asked Bernard what he would like for his birthday he said, "One of your homemade Key Lime Pies. And a $100 bill." Fortunately our motto is, "Just ask us, we might do it"... and in this case, we did.
5. August 16th will mark the beginning of the 8th year in a row that the Diamondback has hosted the WFU men's soccer team for pre-game meals. Go Deacs!
6. Here's a little known story: we do have some hot mail men around here. And UPS drivers, FedEx guys and all sorts of delivery people. In fact for the last 18 years, we've invited all the local delivery folks to come in out of the heat (or the winter cold) and eat their lunches inside the Diamondback. We certainly enjoy seeing everyone. |

This month we'd like to acknowledge the passing of Wake Coach Skip Prosser. Skip was a great man and his leadership on and off the basketball court will be missed. Our best to all and we'll see you at the Diamondback.
