Gift and Product Ideas - By Sue Becker and Ashley McCord
Ashley and I had this idea to show you some of our products that might get over looked when just listed on a price list.  You may not know that we really have other great products besides grain mills and bread making supplies.  This demo was intended as gift ideas, not just for Christmas - but anytime of the year, for yourself or someone else!

PS - We ALL have a new appreciation for live television personalities!  It is not as easy as they make it look.  So bear with us in these first few attempts - our hope is that we will get better at this as we go - but it is the thought that counts - right! ?

Also:
We are now on Facebook - So you can stay up to date on all that is happening at the Bread Beckers.  Check us out and become a friend!

We have added some Great New Products:

Herbal Teas and Tea Pots and Glass Infuser - check out the product demo on our website.

Organic Extracts -  we have an assortment of great organic flavoring extracts including the standard vanilla and almond as well as orange, chocolate, coconut, hazelnut, lemon, peppermint and coffee.

Huron Juicer - great new compact but powerful juicer that is EASY to clean and easy to use - See a demo in the video with Chef Lars

Grain in Bags - Available in January - we will offer some of our grain in 50 lb bags. We of course can not guarantee bug free grain once it leaves our warehouse - so proper storage and use is important.  Those of you with a mountain of empty buckets may appreciate this option.   Bag options will include red, white and soft wheat in regular and organic, as well as organic spelt, kamut, rye and durum.

It has been an exciting year at the Bread Beckers and we look forward to serving you next year.  We have some exciting events planned for January.  We will start the year with a Getting Started Class and have plans for our first ever Health Fair, and a repeat of our 4-week Healthy Living Simplified Class.  We want to help you keep those New Year's resolutions!!  Look for specific dates in our next newsletter and on the events page of our website.

Again Have a Very, Merry Christmas!!!

Recipe

Decadent Dark Chocolate Orange Blossoms
  • ¾ cup butter, softened (1 ½ sticks)
  • 2/3 cups honey granules
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 ¼ cups soft wheat flour
  • zest of 1 orange
  • about 30 dark chocolate kisses  or add ¾ cup "Enjoy" brand chocolate chips to the dough  *see note

In a large bowl, combine butter and honey granules.  Add baking powder and salt.  Beat until very light and fluffy.  Beat in egg white.  Add flour and orange zest and beat until completely combined.  If necessary cover and chill for about 30 minutes or until dough is easy to handle.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Shape dough into 1 inch balls (small cookie scoop works perfectly).  Place balls 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes until edges are set and bottoms are very lightly browned.
Remove from oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.  Transfer cookies to a wire rack.  Cool completely.  Makes about 30 cookies.

* though the cookies with the kiss are a prettier presentation we actually liked the taste of the cookie better with the chocolate chips in the dough - and then you have chocolate in every bite

Testimonials, Blogs, Affiliates, Links

We have many customers that tell us (well, usually Sue and Brad at classes or homeschool fairs) about the positive changes in their health (and their families' health) when they start making their own fresh bread.  We try to share your stories, but it's just not the same as reading/hearing directly from you!  If you would like to share your story, and perhaps encourage someone else, please send your story to testimonial@breadbeckers.com and we will share it on our web site at info.breadbeckers.com/testimonials  [We'll use just your initials (not your full name) and remove personal identifiable info, unless you direct us otherwise]

Do you have a blog/site where you share your bread making experiences?  We would love to share links with you.  Just send a note to link@breadbeckers.com and we'll create a link to you from our Links page on our web site at  info.breadbeckers.com/links

Are you a bread maker with a site or blog where you recommend sites and products?  We have an affiliate program that allows you to earn money on anyone who clicks through from your site and makes a purchase from us. It is web based only, and does not apply to telephone orders, walk-ins or co-ops.  If you are interested, send an e-mail to affiliateprogram@breadbeckers.com requesting details - be sure to include the URL of your site/blog so we can evaluate it's content.

 Co-ops
The co-op schedule can be found on our web site.

Co-ops are a great way to get your grains and other supplies that are just too expensive to ship any other way.  Current co-op shipping rates range from 11.5 cents to 14.5 cents per pound (depending on distance from our warehouse) when we deliver on our own truck, compared to UPS rates that can be around 50 cents a pound!  Visit our web site and find the co-op closest to you, our coordinators will be happy to welcome you into a co-op!
