For those of us with school age children summer is officially over!  Our lives are returning, once again, to schedules and routines.  It is a great time to renew a commitment to healthier eating and planned meal times.

So, we decided to designate September as "Kid Friendly Month" at The Bread Beckers!   Be sure to check out our upcoming September Classes, which include both a Mother/Daughter and a Mother/Son Class, as well as our product highlights for some great ideas to encourage happier, healthier kids!!

"KID FRIENDLY"

As mothers we are often concerned about our children getting all the vitamins and minerals their growing bodies need.  We have a few great supplements particularly designed with kids in mind.

PhytoBerry for Kids by Progressive Nutritional Therapies is an outstanding supplement.

PhytoBerry is a highly concentrated berry based whole food supplement that is loaded with natural antioxidants.  I have never seen another product quite like this!

It is a blend of over 30 high antioxidant fruit concentrates, essential fatty acids, herbal extracts, as well as a probiotic blend of organisms.  It tastes great yet contains no artificial ingredients of any kind.

No pills to swallow!  PhytoBerry is a great tasting fruit powder that can be mixed with juice, water, smoothies, yogurt, or even mixed with fruit and juice and frozen into a popsicle!!  A single serving has the nutritional equivalent of 6-8 servings of fresh fruit as well as a wide range of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids and probiotics.  The added fatty acids for brain development and probiotics and colostrums for immune support make PhytoBerry an excellent supplement for any child.
Item #08412  PhytoBerry for Kids 8.5 oz jar - 30 servings/container  $22.49

SweetKids - An outstanding product by Sweet Wheat formulated specifically with kids in mind.  SweetKids was developed to provide children with a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and protein missing from the average fast food and sugar saturated lunchroom diets.

Each bottle contains 90 capsules of a special formulation of 100% Organic Sweet Wheat freeze dried wheat grass juice, specific enzymes, and probiotic in combination with blue-green algae.

Many parents have found that Sweet Kids helps address many of the symptoms associated with behavioral problems including ADD and ADHD.  In addition to changes in attitude, taking Sweet Kids regularly assisted in eliminating the child's cravings for junk food - which is neither healthy nor natural!

The special formulation in Sweet Kids helps to remedy vitamin and mineral deficiencies in children today.

Sweet Kids:
    Supports Healthy Brain Function
    Promotes Positive Behavior and Mood
    Improves Digestion, Metabolism and Immunity
Contains NO artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners

Great product for your Great Kid!!

Cool Tools for Kids!!

VeggiChop by chef'n

The Veggiechop is truly a cool tool not only for kids, but also for anyone in the kitchen.

VeggiChop is a powerful, uniquely designed, handheld chopper.  It is great for everything from vegetables to nuts to herbs.  Blades are "powered" by the pull chord handle - just a few easy pulls and you have finely chopped onions (without tears), nuts, salsa or just about anything you might need chopped.  The amount of pulls determines how fine the chop.  This is not only a great tool YOU will enjoy but  a great way to let the kids do the chopping without the worry of them cutting their finger with a knife.  So easy even a young child can do it!  Patented stainless steel blades chop even the heartiest of foods.

Clean up is easy as well.  Just rinse the top and blades.  Base is dishwasher safe.

Brad recently did 7 quarts of his "famous" salsa in just a little over an hour using the VeggiChop.  He loved it!! So will you!!!

Item # 01275 VeggiChop $29.99

Whip Cream Whippers by iSi

The Easy Whip is just that - fast and easy.  Just pour the cream in (will hold 1 pint); add your favorite sweetener (I like about 2 TBL agave nectar for this); add your favorite flavoring.  Give the whipper just a few shakes, attach the nitrogen cartridge and give it another good shake and you are ready with great tasting whipped cream!  Kids will love this because it dispenses just like the fake stuff (sorry!) from the store!  It takes one cartridge for each use, but once whipped the cream stays good for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

Item # 08857 Easy Whip Cream Whipper $39.95
Item # 00236 10 Pack Whip Cream Chargers $8.99
Item # 00237 25 Pack Whip Cream Chargers $16.99

Children's Aprons - For those little cooking helpers we have a great selection of children's aprons - some suitable for boys and girls.  Teach them early to protect their clothing while cooking!!

We also have many adorable styles for adults that would be great for the older child or teen.

Don't forget - Christmas will be here before you know it!!

These are just a few of the many "Kid Friendly" products we offer at The Bread Beckers.  We love kids and we love encouraging healthy family lifestyles.  Please join us for any or all of our great September classes.

Recipe

Brazilian Cheese Rolls
(pao de queijo)

We have many Brazilian friends and have enjoyed these little cheesy rolls many times.  My precious friend, Alda makes the best ones ever.  I have tried to learn to make them from her several times as I watched her make them.  But she makes them the way my Grandmother used to make biscuits - no recipe - but by feeling the dough and adding ingredient amounts according to the way the dough looks and feels.  How happy I was to find this recipe in, of all places, an Allergy-Free Cookbook.  Made from tapioca flour these little delicacies are GLUTEN FREE.  Tapioca flour comes from the cassava root (also called yucca or manioc).  In Brazil they are popular at breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Whether you need gluten free or not you will want to try these super easy, fabulous little rolls.

My kids love these!!!

Brazilian Cheese Rolls
(pao de queijo)
(gluten free)

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • cup butter (1/2 stick)
  • cup olive oil
  • 2 cups plus 2 TBLS tapioca flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese (I used about 1 cups)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Combine milk, butter and oil in a large saucepan.  Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to melt butter.  Remove from heat.  Measure tapioca flour into a large mixing bowl.  Add hot milk mixture to flour and stir.  Mixture will be thick and stretchy.

Beat in eggs, 1 at a time and add cheese.  Mixture will be stiff.  Cool if necessary until able to handle.

Roll dough into golf- ball size portions with tapioca-floured hands.  Place on baking sheet about 1 inch apart.

Bake 20-25 minutes or until puffed and golden.  Serve warm.  Makes about 20 rolls.

Enjoy
