Ripples of 10-12-08 ATC

Walking along the San Antonio River on a beautiful, crisp morning, it's quiet as can be.  There's no one else in sight, the air is calm and the water surface smooth as glass when a lone mallard duck comes soaring in for a landing upstream.  I can't help but notice that his entry scarcely makes a sound, yet creates ripples that travel a long distance on the river's surface, lapping up against objects far away, both upstream and down.  It's mesmerizing to watch.

Moments later, my reverie is penetrated by the reek of cigarette smoke.  My deep dislike of that acrid smell kicks in and I reflexively look around to see where it's coming from, so I can move farther away.  It takes awhile to locate the smoker standing at street level almost 100 yards off.  My eyes can't see her very well, but my nose and throat sure are contracting in response.

I'm struck by the juxtaposition of these two small actions.  I happened to enjoy the duck's ripples and object to the smoker's fumes, but that's not the point.  Rather, it's the way both impacted their environment and affected me from quite a distance.  A graphic demonstration of another one of Life's little lessons on being mindful of our thoughts and actions - because there's no way of knowing what ripples are being sent out, or how far they will travel.

In the Celebration Circle, we've spent 16 years doing what we can to generate waves of positive, creative consciousness.  This coming Sunday, for example, I will be working with two extraordinary guests, speaker Hal Robinson and singer/songwriter Buddy Mondlock, both of whom have extremely gentle, lyrical but focused voices which they use to great effect to induce people to open their hearts and minds to new possibilities.  I sure hope you can come experience the power of their work!  (Read more details about them a little further down the page).

Another example would be our Sacred Art of Altars show, which closed last week.  Thanks to all the generous artists, volunteers and bidders who supported this exhibit, we not only raised money for the Circle's operating expenses, but stimulated countless conversations among the theater-goers who saw it - and placed dozens of altars in homes and offices where they will doubtlessly continue to create ripples for years to come.

We're also hard at work re-creating this weekly e-newsletter and our website in ways that allow them to become more accessible, transparent and capable of carrying more content, podcasts, meditations, etc.  These are just some of the ways we are broadcasting positive vibrations into our larger community and the world.  Much more is possible - and with your assistance, we'll continue to bring those possibilities into manifestion.

With blessings and gratitude for your support in making waves!
