Hello friends,
Today starts the first week of a 6-week push up training program, getting you all ripped up enough to do 100 straight push ups. Weekly workouts will be posted on my "Eat To Live" facebook page, so get on there if you aren't already. Training consists of 3 days per week for 6 weeks, approx 10 min per day to complete. You laugh now, but soon enough this program will get you. It is the training from www.hundredpushups.com, being posted on my page by popular demand.
I would love some videos when you get your 100 straight, this is going to be so killer!
Big shout out to my client Corinne, she's been out of control with them lately...can't wait to see her final #'s! You go girl!

Did You Know... The Indian military has announced it will be turning the worlds hottest chili pepper (ghost chili) into a weapon. I guess if we're going to have weapons they're better being non-toxic. |

Ever hear of psyllium? Psyllium husks are ground into flour and used as a dietary supplement to help keep you regular, if ya know what I mean. They contain a fiber called mucilage which is great for keeping our intestinal tract healthy. Psyllium expands up to 20 times in size, making it a great colon cleanser and appetite regulator. Aside from cleaning out your insides, psyllium has some wonderful health benefits. I have used this as part of a dietary plan to help clients discontinue use of cholesterol and blood pressure meds...not a bad idea aye!
Some therapeutic uses:
Diarrhea or constipation
IBS
High cholesterol (lowers total chol & LDL)
High blood pressure
Diabetes
Weight control
Colon cleansing
*Be sure to drink plenty of water |

Natural Health
It's that time of year again for sunbathing, picnics, outdoor sports, and lots of scraped knees and bug bites. I was just talking to my neighbor about her scabbed up knee that keeps getting scraped off, and thought perfect time to break out some of Lynn's comfrey salve and heal this bad boy up!
Comfrey is well known for it's amazing healing properties. It contains a compound called alantoin which promotes new cell growth, and less yucko scab time. Since it has antibacterial, antifungal and anti inflammatory properties, it is also useful for sunburn, bee stings, bruises, skin ulcer, burns and dry skin.
Lynn makes a comfrey salve that's great to keep around as back up. I will be visiting the farm again this week so feel free to place an order.

Exercise
Since today is the start of the push ups, I feel it's rather appropriate to talk about doing them correctly. Push ups, often associated with military workouts, are quite simple yet super effective (and fun might I add). You will not only be training your chest and triceps, but engaging your delts and core.
Hundredpushups.com (this is where the training is coming from incase you want to peek ahead or track your progress...awesome site) has a great push up intro...
"Lie prone on the ground with hands placed as wide or slightly wider than shoulder width. Keeping the body straight, lower body to the ground by bending arms at the elbows. Raise body up off the ground by extending the arms. Repeat.
Body weight should be lifted by the arms; don't be tempted to use your butt, stomach or the lower half of your body to pull yourself up. To maintain correct body alignment, imagine a straight line running from your head down to your ankles".
Make sure to stay aware of form, this is most important. Common mistakes are only bending the elbows part way, dropping the waist and hips first, and keeping the head lifted in the air. If you have a hard time at first and can not come all the way down, go as far as you can with good form. This will improve with practice. |
