CMI 2: Last Offer for Free Trial Use!
Readers may be aware that we have been offering some free use of our Career Motivation Indicator (Version 2) as part of our effort to introduce the instrument, and also as a way of gathering initial pilot data. We have decided to extend this offer to the end of the year, when we will be consolidating our research findings and publishing a final instrument.
Consequently, if you want to use CMI in trials with your clients on these terms please email Derek Wilkie at newsletterfeedback@sr-associates.com to make arrangements. Currently it exists in electronic form, so it can be completed on a PC and emailed to SR&A for scoring and report production. At the present time, we can normally return reports to people who have sent in the (electronically) completed CMI within three working days. The final version of CMI will be available on-line and will provide immediate scoring and report production.

Downloadable Resources
Quintax Users may like to download a couple of free resources available through this Newsletter.
-
A recent summary of criterion related validation studies performed with Quintax to show the predictive value of the instrument in relation to measures of job performance. If you didn't qualify recently as a Quintax User then you won't have this in your User Guide - you may want to add this as an Appendix. Click here for the document.
-
A brief synopsis of Quintax and Listening Skills. We occasionally utilise this in training and development work. It is handy in 1-to-1 feedback where listening skills are an issue. You can highlight the parts relevant (given your respondent's Quintax Type preferences) and treat it as part of your give-away feedback to the respondent. Click here for the document.
Free Powerpoint Workshop
If you are a Quintax User and would like to obtain our up-to-date and FREE Quintax Workshop Presentation please email Stuart at SR&A. The workshop consists of an introduction to Quintax along with a series of exercises designed to help delegates understand issues such as the significance of personality in determining the process and outcome of problem solving, its impact on team dynamics, etc. The workshop may be edited subject to retention of our copyright information on retained slides.
The workshop integrates well with round table completion of Quintax in paper and pencil form by participants, and even more effectively with their prior completion of Quintax On-line. The latter approach enables the presenter to gain access to all required reports before the workshop takes place, and this helps in planning activities etc. |
Focus on Training |

Test Training at SR&A Ltd
Test training has been and will continue to be a centrepiece of our activity at SR&A. Many hundreds of delegates - both in-company and at our public courses in Manchester - have been trained successfully in the BPS Level A and B competencies, Assessment and Development Centre Design, Quintax etc. Our public programmes have become an increasingly popular basis for delegates to acquire their training, requiring us to run parallel courses to meet the demand placed on our public course dates.
We are finding that more and more organisations - of diverse types both in the public and private sectors - are showing an interest in objective assessment methods, and allowing assessment to become a natural part of their skills for selecting and developing people. One of the aspects of this that is most satisfying to us is the ready and interested audience that has been created for Quintax and its applications both in terms of paper and pencil use and on-line assessment. It provides a powerful way in which practitioners in a range of fields can raise the level of a dialogue between themselves and clients to add value, and we get great pleasure out of seeing it done well during our training courses and beyond!
So if you are interested in sending yourself or others to us for training, or if you would like a quote for in-company training, why not take a look at our training page and our course dates and prices for 2007/2008. You might also want to check our October Newsletter Offer below for a potential discount on Quintax Qualification Training. Call us for queries on +44 1618773277, and we'll do our best to help! |

MOD Assessment Centre Contract
We have recently been successful in a joint bid with DBM in securing a 4-year contract to provide assessment centre services to the Ministry of Defence for the selection of entrants to the Senior Civil Service.
SR&A Consultants will be working with our partners in MOD to specify, design and deliver all aspects of the assessment centre process from the initial self-assessment pack, through application and sifting to facilitation and review of the assessment centres. Central to the design will be the need to work closely with the Professional Skills for Government model of competency, giving particular emphasis to leadership skills and qualities. This will be a high-profile project and we are looking forward to meeting the challenge of delivering to our client's high standards.
This contract builds on our existing portfolio of assessment centre consultancy in the public sector which includes work for both the Valuation Office Agency and the Independent Police Complaints Commission. |

Bill Price |
|
At SR&A we were all very saddened to hear of the recent death of Bill Price, an associate, colleague and friend to us all in the business. Bill was an accomplished occupational and business psychologist with a zest for life, a keen mind, and a love of work and activity. It is fitting that despite illness he continued to work until close to the end of his life. We will miss Bill, and we send condolences to his family.
