Cause Communications recently partnered with the Academies for Social Entrepreneurship to bring their amazing Social Venture training and competition to our hometown, Los Angeles. The free two-month training and mentoring program for innovative nonprofits that create social change helps each organization develop a business plan to generate revenue beyond donations and grants. Through the program, they learn how to develop a sustainable mission-based business.

These competitions are popping up all over the country and are inspiring! If you are interested, there are lots of ways to get involved. There are coaches, mentors, judges as well as participants. For a great first-hand account of the value in participating, read Diary of a Social Venture Start-Up: Business Competitions in Good Magazine.
