Flame Award
WRC is incredibly proud of our Director of Legal Services, Ayonna Johnson, who was recently honored with the Deborah C. McDorman Flame Award by the DeKalb County Domestic Violence Task Force. The Flame Award was created to honor the memory of Deborah C. McDorman, founder of the Task Force and coordinator of the first Victim/Witness Assistance Program in the DeKalb County Solicitor-General's Office. Award recipients are recognized for their efforts to end domestic violence by demonstrating leadership, character/ethics, innovation/creativity, and accomplishment. |
Do Your Share
WRC is a member of Georgia Shares, an employee giving program with a focus on social justice. As campaign season gears up, we encourage you to check with your HR department to see if yours is Georgia Shares workplace. If so, consider making a payroll contribution to WRC. Just $10 per paycheck can match a DV survivor's personal savings, enabling her to pay the first month of rent in a new, safe home of her own. Our CFC number is 42267.
If your company gives to United Way only, you can still direct your donations to us by writing "Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence" under "Donor Choice"on your pledge form. |
Candlelight Vigil Wrap-Up
Thanks to everyone who attended our Domestic Violence Awareness Month vigil. This year, we read the names of 81 Georgians whose lives were taken from them and whose families will never be the same. If you weren't able to attend, please take a moment to remember those lost.
