Good Books
Jewish Women International's National Library Initiative is working to establish 100 children's libraries in homeless and domestic violence shelters throughout the country. WRC is proud to be #30.
Our library was generously donated by Barbara & Gene Hirsch. "I learned about the Library Initiative a through my cousin," said Barbara Hirsh. "It sounded like such a good way to give the children, who were victims of domestic abuse, a safe place to enjoy reading and learning. Providing the children with a book or two when they leave the center will further encourage them to continue reading. It is my pleasure to be part of such a worthwhile endeavor."
All of JWI's libraries include at least 250 brand-new children's books; three bookcases; one child-size rocking chair; an adult rocking chair; a child-sized table and four chairs; and one large colorful carpet. WRC is grateful for the difference that this new space will make for the hundreds of children who stay with us each year. |
A New Club for Men Many thanks go out to the men (and women) who participated in our 2009 Father's Day Campaign. In it, participants make a public declaration that they will stand against domestic violence in our community and make a financial pledge to support programs for survivors of domestic violence. This campaign is made possible by the generosity of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Caller ID Spoofing Our organization's name has recently been used without our permission to endorse a caller ID spoofing program called SpoofEm. Women's Resource Center neither uses nor endorses the use of such technology to disguise a person's phone number. Click through to our blog to read more about the dangers of caller id spoofing. |
