Tour of Africa From now until May 5th, children in our safehouse will be learning about Africa and (with mom's help) will create one-of-a-kind clay and paper-mâché masks from each nation they study. These amazing creations will be used as centerpieces at our Champions for Change Luncheon on May 7th and will be available for purchase at the event. Visit our auction preview to see additional masks and the many other items we'll have for auction.

5th Annual Georgia Fatality Review This week, the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Georgia Commission on Family Violence jointly published their 5th annual Domestic Violence Fatality Review Report, a document that provides analysis of cases in which Georgians have lost their lives due to domestic violence.
After reviewing 89 of Georgia's domestic violence fatalities, the groups found that people experiencing domestic violence seek help primarily from their friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers, employers, and faith communities. Members of these groups often try to help, but lack the tools to do so effectively. The report offers basic messages that anyone can convey to people who are being abused or to abusers so that they are better prepared to respond when a friend or loved one is in a violent relationship or is perpetrating violence. In addition, in all the cases reviewed, less than one-fifth of homicide victims had had contact with a domestic violence agency or safehouse in the five years leading up to the homicide, suggesting that many of those in danger are unaware of or are not accessing available resources.
Women's Resource Center is grateful for all of you who stay familiar with our organization and our programs. Our 24-hour hotline is available for friends and family members as well, for more information about resources or to role-play talking to a woman in your life.
