Economic Empowerment
WRC is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a $100,000, 2-year grant from the Atlanta Women's Foundation to seed an Economic Empowerment Program for survivors of domestic violence.
In this program, WRC will conduct original video research into the intimate fiscal histories of women affected by domestic violence, and will use these testimonials to build a financial literacy program specifically tailored to the needs of domestic violence survivors with limited financial resources. We expect the program to include fiscal trauma counseling, savings matches, basic financial education including credit repair, and entrepreneurial scholarships. The program will also produce a documentary for use in public education about financial abuse and poverty. This will be the first program of its kind in the nation.
