Dr. Sheryl Heron Wins Gender Justice Award |
|
WRC board member Dr. Sheryl Heron has been
awarded the 2006 Gender Justice Award by the
Georgia Commission on Family Violence. Dr. Heron
works as an Associate Professor in the Department of
Emergency Medicine at Emory University, where her
research focuses on preventing violence against
women. Additionally, Dr. Heron is a practicing
clinician at the Grady Hospital Emergency Room,
where she also provides direct care to survivors of
family violence. Dr. Heron’s unique role has
allowed her to reach out to students and
practitioners in the medical field to teach them how
best to understand family violence. She has used
her influence within both the medical and academic
communities to challenge current responses to family
violence and identify best practices for service.

Champions for Change Planning is Underway |
|
Champions for Change is WRC's signature fundraising
event and planning is currently underway. Last year
nearly 400 people attended the luncheon and we
raised over $220,000. This year the event will be
held on April 10th at TWELVE Atlantic Station.
Corporate sponsorships are still available at a variety
of levels, and items are being collected for auction at
the event. If your business would like to learn more
about the marketing opportunities associated with
sponsorship or item donation, please contact Amber
Harris at (404) 370-7670 or download the corporate
sponsorship packet from our website.
