LOVEvolution

march events

namaste,

katja_creekFebruary was the month of LOVE and yielded the astrological constellation described in the song "Age of Aquarius," setting the stage for a global change predicted to occur. It was fitting that Valentine's Day fell in the same month, as a symbolic day of celebrating love.  After the age of Pisces, described as a time "ruled by the sword", a new era "will bring to the majority of humanity the discovery of true living and real knowledge of the inner teachings" (Wikipedia).

During his inauguration speech Barack Obama so 'yogically' pointed out that it is time to make choices that are in alignment with the greatest good, to cultivate the virtues of honesty, hope, tolerance, and integrity.  We modern yogis are blessed with ancient teachings and a living practice of how to cultivate those virtues. This privilege may be a responsibility as much as a blessing for many of us. Many spiritual teachers say that it is becoming imperative that we "wake up" during these times that are economically challenging and filled with uncertainty, but that are also overflowing with promise for a more sustainable society and a more conscious capitalism.

We at Studio Serenity are honored to create a conscious space for practicing
together in love and awareness, the cornerstones on which our community was founded.  During the past 12 months we have experienced an extraordinary year of growth and evolving services.  The upcoming months are filled with enlightening and fun filled programs with the intent to nourish the awakening of body, mind, and spirit.  This is what we serve at Studio Serenity- the journey in which our soul is both a guide and map. Here are just some of the highlights:  Rejuvenating and challenging daily yoga and meditation classes, Outdoor Full Moon Yoga at the Jefferson Memorial, Dynamic Mediation, Healing Anxiety and Depression, ecstatic Kirtan, Yoga Nidra, Demystify the Bandhas, Handstand and Inversions, Hike the Billy Goat Trail, Flying Trapeze --there is something for everyone.

I hope that this spring we all stay connected to the inspired and hopeful state the world has started to embrace in February.  May we continue to serve the flowering and awakening of consciousness. May all beings be happy and free.

With much love and gratitude,

Katja and the Serenity Team

"What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility
- a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task." ~ Barack Hussein Obama, January 20, 2009

yoga nidra

yoga nidraYoga Nidra "yogic sleep", is a wakeful state of deep relaxation and supreme insight.
After relaxing your body and calming your mind, you will plant an intention, or invocation for your subconscious. This ancient technique for healing and manifesting one's intentions has a profound effect on the mind and the emotions.

Yoga Nidra is also said to be five times more restorative and restful than regular sleep. You will leave this workshop not only feeling more refreshed than you ever have, but hopefully with a higher sense of daily awareness that you can take with you wherever you go. Please bring a blanket, pillows and an open heart.
