Festive salutations and pranams dear yogis!

I would like to thank you for such a beautiful year and contributing to the yoga community at Studio Serenity and all the other ways that you have made a difference, in your own life and in the lives of others.

As 2008 comes to an end, let us welcome into our hearts, minds and spirits the traditional aspects of the winter solstice and appreciate the lessons and fruits of the past year. I also wanted to pause and reflect to complete 08 powerfully and create 09 from a place of possibility and intention. So I thought it would be great to hold a New Year's celebration at the studio that truly honors the tree of yoga.

As the dark turns into the light, and the old year becomes the new, this is an opportune moment to reflect back on the year that was. It is an auspicious and beautiful time to tend the sacred light in your home, your heart, family and community. We all have a lot to celebrate and be grateful for.

The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the reversal of the gradually lengthening nights and shortening days. Worldwide, most cultures have held the solstice as a symbol of rebirth, involving
twist holidays or other celebrations around that time of year.

The studio will continue to run classes on a special holiday schedule and will double our class offerings in the New Year to keep your practice going strong!  I look forward to being with some of you for
the upcoming New Years Eve Celebration tonight at the studio or see you at the 5:00 PM class today with Ryan.

Thank you for such a beautiful year and your continued support as we roll into Studio Serenity's fifth year. I love that you are spreading and sharing the joy of yoga with others and we appreciate your contribution to our kula, community. Keep tending your light!

namaste and I wish you a happy and healthy New Year.

New Year's Eve Yoga Celebration
Sweat, Restore, Sing, Dance & Celebrate 2009
$15 for members

new years celebration
Studio Serenity will honor and celebrate the solstice and new year transition with a joyful yoga asana and trancedance practice (aka "Shake your Buddha"). Unwind tension and residue from your body and mind with a flowing vinyasa warm-up, release and shake off the past year with enlightening trance dance, followed by a contemplative deep rest and meditation called yoga nidra.

This nourishing practice is sprinkled with poetry, self-reflection and moments for
intention setting. A guided meditation will allow you to settle into deep stillness and to plant seeds for what you wish to cultivate in your life. Ending with tea, treats and connecting in joyful kirtan (singing and dancing) to invoke the light within, this workshop will "ring in" the New Year with the joy that comes from our deepest stillness and savor that sweet inner, sacred space.

Participants are welcome to bring pen & paper as there will be time to reflect upon what has been experienced and extract the essence of last year as well as identify potential for growth and expansion.  Please come prepared to move, breathe, slip into stillness, and enter into the womb of winter that the New Year brings.
