Gateway 505/605 Diagnostic Tip
If you install a new Gateway module (e.g. GTWY505, GTWY605, etc...) and the module does not "wake up," it may not be seeing CAN communication during the initial installation.
Try this solution before you replace the module.
- Disconnect the module from the OBD II port
- Start the vehicle
- Connect the module to the OBD II port. If the module "wakes up" then you are good to go and this will not be an issue later on. If you are still having an issue, then:
- Check the pins to ensure they have not been pulled out of their cavities
- Make sure that all of the connectors are in the correct port and that they are fully seated
- Double check the installation instructions for any steps that may have been missed
- Contact InterMotive technical support

Are We There Yet?
2010 was another tough nonetheless rewarding year. It was a year in which our government increased the national debt by $3.2 trillion - that is $10,429 in debt for every man, woman and child in the US (and they all don't pay taxes!) and yet we are still stuck in a "financial funk". We got a new National Healthcare Program, carryover tax rates and a sharply revised House of Representatives. Any increased spending on public transportation and public works projects from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) dried up and never really produced what we were told to "hope" would happen. Unemployment is still crazy high (especially in Elkhart/Goshen area) and it won't get much better very soon. We're being told the Great Recession is over. I'm not sure we've reached that point just yet. All of this could make a person a bit irritable or pessimistic (or both).
