 | Community Center for People in Recovery  Coming to Portland Utilizing the ROSC Model
The Maine Alliance for Addiction Recovery has been promoting Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) development in Maine. Across the country, ROSCs are focused on creating a larger recovery support network for people in addiction recovery, which includes creation of community-based peer recovery support.
*Learn more about ROSC from SAMHSA HERE

In surrounding New England states, Recovery Centers serve as the anchors for a diverse array of community support programs like Recovery Coaching, Telephone Recovery Support, All Recovery Support Meetings and others.  MAAR has recently received a contract from OSA to open a Recovery Community Center and is currently searching for a site in Portland that will be easily accessed and will have the necessary layout to house these and other services that will be provided by volunteer peer mentors.  Once the doors open, they will be training volunteers who will serve as coaches, mentors and meeting facilitators among oter roles.

MAAR is partnering with Portland Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention Program to assist with Center start up and to strengthen community collaboration as this exciting project is taking off. This new Center will serve as a positive community force, inside its walls and through collaboration and resource sharing with others in communities around it.  MAAR encourages you to get more information about this program and looks forward to working with Portland allies on this first-of-its-kind community project!
