We are thrilled to announce the statewide events that are being co-sponsored by Maine Alliance for Addiction Recovery (MAAR) and the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  This year, we will be bringing recovery into the spotlight with four events being held in honor of National Recovery Month!  Below, you will find opportunities for involvement, event details as well as event contact info.

Bangor Area Summit on Addiction Recovery: Broadening the Base for Recovery
A one-day forum that includes speakers, panel discussion & breakout groups for community-focused discussions.  Target audience: individuals & families in recovery; treatment & service professionals; criminal justice & corrections; and community members. State Attorney General Steven Rowe will be the keynote speaker.

The Power of Our Stories:
Media Training for People in Recovery
A 4-hour training that teaches recovering people how to use their stories in the media and community based presentations to teach about recovery & to lessen stigma.

Recovery Celebration
A recovery event in the park with speakers, refreshments, music & recovery sharing.  State Legislative Representative Marilyn Canavan will speak & read the Governor's proclamation.

Recovery & Wellness Resource Fair
The Overdose Prevention Project's annual event serves to reach out to community members accessing services at Preble Street Resource Center. Close to 25 area service providers will be able to make face-to-face contact with consumers while sharing resources and materials.
