One of the marks of a great church that is growing and fulfilling the great commission and the great commandment is a spirit of harmony.  I do not believe God ever blesses a bickering church.  That would be contrary to His nature and His Word.  Why is unity and harmony so essential?

It's essential because it mirrors the relational harmony of the Godhead itself; always in one accord with one another.  I'm convinced that one of the greatest destroyers of growth in the church of the 21st Century is the absence of unity, which produces harmony in the family.

As you read Acts 2, you can't help but notice the fact of their togetherness.  This togetherness was an open invitation and conduit for the power of the Holy Spirit.  It was the central element which allowed for the rapid growth of the early church.

Getting to know you:

1.  What one thing that you own would you refuse to share with others?

2.  What do you enjoy sharing with others?

Read it:

   Acts 2:42-47

Study it:

1.  What were the early believers devoted to? (v42)  How many?

2.  When God's people experience God's power, how does it affect them? (v43)

3.  What one word in verses 44 & 46 summarizes the harmony found in the church?

4.  What was the result of their togetherness? (vv45-47)

What one thing can you do today that would create or maintain harmony with someone else in your life?

Is there a spirit of disunity that you need to confront, confess, and destroy in yourself today?
