Living A Life Of Worship Principle 2 - Worship Ten Principles of a Growing Christian What does it mean to live a life of worship? Is worship something you do or is it something you are? According to the Bible, it's both. However, true worship must be centered on God, inspired by God, and lifted up to God. Paul,
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:36 (ESV)
The way we can live life to the fullest and bring him the most glory then is to live, for Him, through him, and to Him. As John Piper said, "God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him." That is living a life of worship. We must be careful though, that our lives match our words.
God does not want lip service, He wants life service; a life of honor in Him. As a matter of fact, Amos gives stern warning to Israel because they were only saying they loved God, they weren't showing they loved God. Read Amos 5:21-24 for a synopsis of how God felt about only going through the motions of worship.
Instead, Paul gives us instructions on how to live a true life of worship. Study Romans 12:1-2 and answer the following questions in your devotional time today.
1. What is the appropriate way to worship God?
2. What should our response to God's mercy be?
3. What does it mean to be a living sacrifice?
4. How does copying the behaviors and customs of this world destroy your life of worship?
5. Write down the premise and then the promise of verse 2.
Take a moment to write a prayer of thanksgiving to God for all He's done for you and ask Him to give you the desire and the strength to give everything you are and all you will be, over to Him.
