Hello Tennessee Valley Family,

What a great weekend as we announced our partnership with Sam & Ruthe Shaw and The Orchard Fellowship.  Don't forget the listing of items needed by TOF as they actually launch in September.  They have a registry at Walmart so you can shop as an individual or LifeGroup on line as well.

The Orchard Fellowship is having four pre-launch services; one each month leading up to September.  The first one was held in May with 375 in attendance.  Not a bad start!  Be praying for Sam, Ruthe, and the entire church as they seek to be faithful to the work of the Great Commission in Memphis, TN.

We had great response to Part 2 of Practical Atheist - I Believe in God But I Don't Want To Go Overboard.  We're looking forward to Part 3 - I Believe In God But I Trust in Money! We will be teaching from Luke 12:34 & 16:13.  The burning question is twofold: Is God who He said He is and can he be trusted?

Remember, our definition for a Practical Atheist is, SOMEONE WHO BELIEVES IN GOD, BUT LIVES AS IF HE DOESN'T EXIST.

We are having an ongoing conversation in our weekly emails about the ministry statement TVCC.  Our mission statement says that we, "Lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ..."

This week we begin by looking at the third purpose statement of Serve which says the work we do will be...

R - Resulting in the equipping for Ministry, (Serve)

What does it mean to be equipped to Serve?  It's the second part of the Great Commandment which says, "...love your neighbor as yourself."  Matthew 22:39.
Your #1 job is not to try to serve God.  Your #1 job, without a doubt is simply to know Christ.  As you know Him, and walk in Him, you can't help but love others through Him.  You can serve others without loving them but you can't truly love them without serving them.  This is what God's instructions are: "Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities... and there are different kinds of service to God...  All of you together form the one Body of Christ and each of you is a separate and necessary part of it."  1 Corinthians 12:4, 5, 27  And Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples - that you have love for one another."  John 13:35  TVCC is a church where everyone is expected to not only show up, but "...serve one another in love."

You simply cannot love one another if you're not willing to Serve one another.

If you have questions about how Connect to Jesus Christ you can get answers here on our web site.

See you at the Serving place this weekend,
