More on Complaining
 May 31, 2010
Greetings,
Take a deep breath right now. Be aware while you are doing this. Take a deep breath. Hold your breath briefly. Let it out.

I usually include a breathing exercise or experience at the end of my newsletter, but this time I start with it. Why?

People for whom yoga is a way of life, Yogis, equate the breath with life itself. Breath is the current of life force always moving through you, moving through you until you take your last breath.

Right now you have an opportunity to appreciate and connect with the stream of your own life energy. You always have that opportunity. All you have to do is to pay attention.

I invite you several times today, to join me in taking a few deep breaths. Notice that an intentional breath activates an awareness and a connection to the stream of life, that life current that is moving through.

Where do you want to direct your life energy? We have choice.

We all have desires, things we wish or hope for, points of focus to where we turn our attention.  Desires, in the form of thoughts, channel our energies. Without objects of attention, we are aimless and dissipate our energy, our precious life force.

I have a strong desire for self-care that includes yoga, meditation, and relaxation, so it is easy for me to direct energy towards those activities. I love to do all three and have invested 40 years in practice, believe it or not!

Today is a great day to re-direct your energies. If you could make one change in your physical abilities this year, what would it be? If you could improve your mental faculties, would you? How about your emotional state? Or your connection with that which is Beyond?

The poet Mary Oliver says: "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

New Yoga Video
My fifth yoga video with PBS will be released Tuesday, June 1 in Boston on Channel 2, WGBH!

I will be in the studio, live, and on air from 7:30-8:30 pm. I will be interviewed during the hour, and WGBH will show a video story of five of my students (ranging in ages from the 40s - 80s) and myself, talking of yoga for stiffening joints, particularly concerning arthritis. The program is called Easy Yoga for Arthritis

Easy Yoga for Arthritis coverThis program is part of WGBH's membership drive. For a membership pledge, viewers will receive my instructional program for home, consisting of a DVD in seven sections, plus a bonus.

Please show your support, and make a pledge of any amount if your are in the viewing area. Your call will let WGBH know that you are in favor of this programming.

I always give PBS an exclusive window to offer my yoga DVDs, meaning that this new yoga program won't be available from any other outlet, including my own website! If a membership pledge is just not in the picture for you at this time, you can sign up for notification of when I will be selling Easy Yoga for Arthritis on my website. You can sign up for this special notification through my newsletter sign-up: Newsletter sign-up link

Yoga for the Rest of Us Teachers Training

June 27 - July 1, 2010

Have you dreamed of being able to lead classes in modified yoga for those who need extra consideration in their yoga program? Please, come join me and 20 students in this summer's extraordinary training.

The Teachers Training always gets rave reviews and, each year seems to get better and better.

Part of the magic of this week is due to why and what and how I teach; the rest comes from the group itself, from the gifts that each member brings.
The training takes place in the NH town of Peterborough, where all five PBS videos have been made. You will meet the lovely seniors, some of whom have kept coming to classes for more than two decades!

We have only a few spaces left. If you want to apply, or want to explore the possibility of attending, email my assistant Karen at info@peggycappy.com

Read more about it on my website: Teachers Training link

Cost of the training is $595 for the 5 days, and we get a special group rate at our local motel. There are delightful Bed and Breakfasts in the area as well.

Come and experience the special environment of a quaint New England town this summer, and leave with a new set of skills and a full and happy heart.

More on "Catch Yourself Complaining"
Last newsletter I included  this small section from Ekhart Tolle: Catch Yourself Complaining. See below--I have included it again.

I was surprised that I received little feedback on the subject of complaining.

One teacher who was trained in last summer's class asked for advice for how to handle complaining from students. Another reader said it caused her to think about her relationship and to make major changes about what she would and would not tolerate. Her strong decision and subsequent action has left her in a happier place today.

I would love to hear how you are handling that subject. Please, email me. I am interested in your thoughts from this and any other area of my newsletters.

Perhaps it is time for me to set up a blog so we can have more of a conversation...I will think on this; expect more to come.

"See if you can catch yourself complaining in either speech or thought about a situation you find yourself in. What other people say or do, your surroundings, your life situation, even the weather. See if you can catch yourself complaining.

For to complain is always non-acceptance of what is and it invariably carries an unconscious negative charge. So when you complain you make yourself a victim.

Either leave the situation, change the situation or accept it. All else is madness."

Ekhart Tolle in The Power of Now

Wishing you health and happiness,
