Ervin one of 14 appointed members to the 19 member trust.
Greetings,
This past Wednesday, November 12, I had the honor of attending my first meeting as a member of the Chesapeake Bay Trust, a private grantmaking organization created to promote public awareness and participation in the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
As a Councilmember, I have advocated for several environmental initiatives. I worked with my colleagues to implement the new Road Code, which mandates "green street" techniques to reduce storm water on all new and reconstructed roads in Montgomery County. I have lobbied for expanding alternative modes of transportation and additional mass transit options. I have also worked to preserve open space, and I am pushing the County to develop new programs to help green our neighborhoods by developing a pilot program for community gardens. I am so excited to be a member of the Chesapeake Bay Trust because their work in areas such as environmental education is critical to protecting our region's most important natural resource today and into the future.

 Sincerely,
