    • 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.: Boxing with Victor M. Perez Jr.
    • 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Contact Improv with Olive Bierenga Body Cartography

    Class Descriptions

    Ground Fighting Uyen Pham began her martial arts training in Texas under Grand Master Kim Soo. She has been studying Chayon Ryu for 21 years and holds a 4th degree black belt in this system. Chayon Ryu is a blend of karate, aikido, jujitsu, tae kwon do, kung fu, and weapons. Her training is also focused on tactical ground fighting and confined areas.

    Competitve Boxing Training with Victor M. Perez Jr. includes bag work, pad work, shadow boxing, jump rope, and Calisthenics. Victor is a trainer at 1 West 28th St., 2nd Floor.

    Contact Improvisation (CI) is a dance form of following momentum, gravity, intuition and touch contact with one or more partners. In this workshop we will build a basic palette of physical skills of CI: rolling, falling, supporting and flying.

    Class Descriptions

    Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba. Aikido focuses on using your opponent's energy to gain control.

    Karate Kicks Asana Each workshop begins with a focus on a specific yoga pose (asana) or aspect of yoga practice and explores the forms and patterns in the body that support that pose. That experience is then applied to the fundamental movements of a complementary karate technique.

    World Kanreikai Karate is traditional Japanese full contact karate taught with an emphasis on good body mechanics and breath control. Kanreikai Karate has affiliate schools in the United States, Canada, Israel, Russia and Poland.

    Filipino Stick Fighting Instructor Tony Ortiz of New York Eskrima takes you through the basics.
