Osu!
The Society for Martial Arts Instruction is changing
day by day. Since moving to 4 West 18th Street in
October, we have held two Movement Symposiums,
three
promotion tests, and a Children's Field Day. In
addition, we co-sponsored a capoeira batizado.
We are particularly proud of our new shower
facilities, ready for the hot months.

By Sensei Maria Van Dessel Every three
months, they come around again. They
are eagerly anticipated by some, dreaded by others,
ignored by some, taken in stride by others.
Afterwards, some people find themselves changed;
others find that not much is different. I am speaking
of promotion tests.

from the June 4
promotion test. The next promotion test
is September 10.

out more.” Little do they know that I’m a Bob of all
trades. In addition to being a martial arts
dummy, I enjoy antiques, poker, and travel by rail.
