Welcome to April's newsletter!
Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life's Most Important Skills is the title of a new book by Matthieu Ricard, who was just recently in Hong Kong presenting workshops and talks through The Department of Buddhist Studies at Hong Kong University. He begins the book with a quote from Luca and Francesco Cavalli-Sporza: " Happiness does not come automatically. It is not a gift that good fortune bestows upon us and a reversal of fortune takes back. It depends on us alone. One does not become happy overnight, but with patient labor, day after day. Happiness is constructed, and that requires effort and time. In order to become happy, we have to learn to change ourselves."For me, the labor that helps to create personal happiness is yoga practice. It is the method I use to foster change in myself - physically, mentally and spiritually. It is beautiful now to notice how so many of the yoga students at our studio are pursuing their practice at much deeper levels. There is good energy and a lot of joyfulness in the people who come and go. Let us continue this practice together and learn how to transform ourselves into the kind of people we would like to become. Namaste, Linda |

Guruji BKS Iyengar |
"When we begin asana we worry about the shape of the pose, that is, how we look in the mirror, in other words, the space we exude. By now we should be worrying about the space we include, the space within, for it is largely that which gives true life and beauty to the asana. It is called yoga svarupa - the self assuming its perfect form through yoga."

Clé Souren, a senior Iyengar teacher from Amsterdam, will lead a workshop at The Iyengar Yoga Centre of Hong Kong from May 9 - 13.
Clé co-founded the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Amsterdam, one of the largest Iyengar institutes in the world. He teaches workshops, medical classes and teacher training. His gruff, yet wise and fatherly manner, eases students more deeply into postures than they previously thought possible.
IYHK is offering a Lucky Draw for a Free Two-Hour Class with Clé Souren: The draw will be made on Saturday, April 21, from the names of those students who have already paid for workshop classes with the guest teacher.
Students who register for six classes or more can deduct 10% from the total workshop price.
