Something to Brighten Your Day...
Two Bright Girls, Two Dedicated CASAs
A husband-and-wife CASA team was appointed to advocate for teenaged twins in 2007. These sisters were abandoned by their parents as young children and had spent time in the home of family friends, relatives and were currently in the temporary custody of their older sister and her husband. At the time of CASAs appointment, the sister's home was in disarray and they had witnessed several episodes of domestic violence between her sister and brother-in-law. The Juvenile Court Judge soon determined that the environment was not suitable for the twins and they were once again placed with what CASA believed to be a marginally suitable relative in an effort to keep them from coming into foster care.
