Measuring UMFA in Suspected CFD
Dr. Kara Fitgerald on UMFA

In her most recent blog, Kara Fitzgerald, ND supports monitoring Unmetabolized Folic Acid (UMFA) in the serum of those with diagnosed or suspected Cerebral Folate Deficiency (CFD). It makes good sense given the ubiquitous presence of synthetic folic acid in the food supply, and its toxic consequences in individuals with CFD. Lab Evaluations for Synthetic Vitamins
Vitamin D2 vs. D3, 5-MTHF vs. UMFA

Last month, Metametrix Chief Science Officer, Dr. Richard Lord, hosted an educational webinar discussing laboratory evaluations for synthetic vitamins. In his session, he reviewed the additions of D2 and D3 as analytes to our vitamin D profile, and addressed the distinctions between the two. He also gave an in-depth look at folates through our new Unmetabolized Folic Acid (UMFA) profile, constructively differentiating UMFA from 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (5-MTHF).

What's on Your Gut's Mind?
Rachel Marynowski, ND on the GI tract

If your gut could talk, what would it say? Well, being that it contains the body's "second brain," it can think and quite possibly, it's not very content with the way it's being treated. In her latest blog post, Dr. Rachel Marynowski convincingly gives us reason to regularly evaluate our GI system and consider the Comprehensive GI Effects profile in doing so.
