With the holidays soon approaching, we'd like to make sure your specimen remains stable to ensure proper specimen arrival! In observance of Christmas Day and New Year's Day, Metametrix will be closed on Friday, December 25 and Friday, January 1. We ask for you to ship FedEx Overnight (orange) bags by the Wednesday prior to these holidays and FedEx 2nd day bags (gray) by the Tuesday prior to these holidays. | The ION (Individual Optimal Nutrition) Profile |
 Moving Towards Optimal Health
The ION Profile includes a combination of various Metametrix Profiles - all in one. Included in the ION is the Organix, Amino Acid, Nutrient & Toxic Elements, and Fatty Acids Profiles. Also measured are antioxidant vitamins, coenzyme Q10, lipid peroxides, and homocysteine, making the ION a comprehensive profile for overall health evaluation.

| The New and Improved Estronex Profile! |
 New Analytes, Ratios, and Specimen Changes
The Estronex Profile assesses risk for estrogen-sensitive cancers including uterine, ovarian, cervical, prostate, and even head and neck cancers. The updated profile now measures five key estrogen metabolites and two ratios. New analytes measured are: 2-methoxyestrone, shown to have anticancer effects in high levels, 4-methoxyestrone, a non-cancerous metabolite, and 4-hydroxyestrone which can react negatively with damaged DNA. Also, the easy-to-collect first-morning urine specimen now requires 13ml instead of the previous 10ml due to the new method used to run the Estronex Profile. | New Metametrix Testing Profiles for 2009 |
 Six New Profiles!
Metametrix released six new cutting-edge health assessment profiles in 2009! In January, we released the Fat-Soluble Vitamins Profile - a snapshot of overall nutrition, followed by TRIAD Bloodspot, a non-invasive TRIAD option at the end of March. We acquired AccuChem Laboratories and in early May released three AccuChem Profiles: PCBs, Volatile Solvents, and Chlorinated Pesticides, adding to our Toxic Effects Profiles. Each profile is aimed at evaulating toxic burden in the body. The last profile for 2009, released in September, was the Phthalates & Parabens Profile. This profile can help identify everyday exposures to items such as personal care products and plastics. Look for more innovations in 2010!

| Applying Laboratory Evaluations to Improve Clinical Outcome |
 New Dates for 2010!
Metametrix has announced new dates for the Applying Laboratory Evaluations seminar series for 2010! New dates include February 20/21, June 12/13, and August 28/29. This seminar is taught by practicing clinicians and the writers of the landmark book, Laboratory Evaluations for Integrative and Functional Medicine, and geared toward clinicians looking to expand their use of functional laboratory testing. We'd also like to thank everyone who attended a seminar in 2009! Stay tuned for additional new seminars in 2010!
