May Banner
Greetings!

May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month as well as National Celiac Disease Awareness Month! Metametrix is featuring the Allergix and Celiac Profiles. The Allergix Profiles reveal IgG and IgE reactions. The Celiac Profile can help reveal the body's response to gluten, a contributing factor to celiac disease.

In this issue we will feature articles and resources that can help identify testing and treatment options for food allergies and celiac disease. Be sure to check out upcoming events, such as the IFM 16th International Symposium in Hollywood, Florida. Other features include a new line of Toxic Effects Profiles, as well as a new web page dedicated to Metametrix 25th anniversary including videos from CEO and founder Dr. J. Alexander Bralley. Check out more on these features below!

Allergix IgG4 and IgE Food Antibody Profiles
allergixFood Sensitivity Testing
Most individuals are aware of IgE or immediate reactions to ingested foods. IgG reactions or delayed reactions are just as common, but people are generally not aware of them. IgG offenders are regular dietary items consumed by most individuals, such as milk, wheat, and eggs.  Learn more about the IgG4 reaction and the IgE food antibody reactions and how testing for both can be beneficial in identifying allergic responses.
Celiac Disease: Often Underdiagnosed
celiacMeasuring Gluten Sensitivity
Celiac disease affects millions of individuals worldwide. An estimated 3 million people have the disease in the United States and are not aware they are affected. It can take an average patient 7 years to get a diagnosis of celiac disease and often these patients have been misdiagnosed for their symptoms. By performing proper evaluation, clinicians can measure the immune reaction to gluten and learn what triggers can initiate the onset of the disease.
