Detoxification Capacity Profile

As a reminder, the Detoxification Capacity Profile is being discontinued. Specimens received after January 1, 2009 will not be processed. If you would like more information on this change or need to identify alternative testing options, such as the Organix Profiles, please contact Client Services at 800-221-4640 or by email at inquiries@metametrix.com

 Organix Range Changes

New ranges for the Organix Profile went into effect on December 1, 2008. The Organix Profile contains separate tests that are periodically updated and improved as new methods or new clinical information becomes available. Notifications of any reporting change are printed on the patient test report for three months after the change is implemented.

Test results are structured in both quintiles and the 95% reference intervals so when reference ranges are revised, the quintiles still reflect the patient's relative position within a population. This helps with interpretation when comparing a patient's test results over time. If you have questions regarding these changes, please click the link below or contact Client Services at 800-221-4640.

Greetings!

Happy Holidays from Metametrix! Check out the feature this month on IgG4 food allergy testing and additional product updates on GI Effects, Organix, and the Detoxification Capacity Profile. The Metametrix Institute continues to contribute podcasts, including this month's spotlight on Dysbiosis and Leaky Gut. Learn more on these topics below!
Understanding IgG4 and the Difference in Food Reactions
allergix IgE and the Forms of IgG
IgE is considered the gold standard for assessment of 'true' allergies while IgG is often dismissed as not significant in 'allergic' responses. Though the IgE reactions are better suited to assess immediate reactions, research has certainly shown that IgG is not a random response with no clinical utility. Read more on IgG4 and current research that supports its benefits.

Dysbiosis and Leaky Gut
FoodsA Case Study
A 52-year-old male presents with diarrhea, heartburn, weight gain, and a history of antibiotic use. Metametrix GI Effects Stool Profile and Allergix IgG4 Food Antibodies Profile were used on this patient. Laboratory results reveal leaky gut and severe dysbiosis. Follow his path towards recovery in this week's Laboratory Grand Rounds.

GI Effects Stool Profile Kit Changes
gi effects logoThird tube addition and consistency data
We are making two changes in the GI Effects Stool Profile kits. First, we have begun collecting stool consistency data on the Test Requisition Form and specimen collection tube. Secondly, beginning December 15, you will notice a third tube added to the collection kits. This additional tube will help us conduct research allowing for more ground-breaking microbial markers and providing even better results for you and your patients. Your reports will not change with the addition of this third tube. Current GI Effects kits, containing only two tubes, will be accepted through March 1, 2009. If you have questions, please contact Client Services at 800-221-4640.
