Over the Christmas holidays my sweetheart and I went to see the movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. To be honest, my sweetheart simply indulged me by being by my side as I watched the movie (grins). I have loved the Mission Impossible drama since the days in the late 60's and early 70's as it exploded upon the little black and white TV set we had at our home. After all these years the reason why it still intrigues me is because of the word "Impossible". I am someone who has always liked a challenge. Thinking something is impossible then seeing it achieved causes goose bumps all over this old preacher's body.

I get an even bigger thrill when I think of Converge Great Lakes' new mission statement. I have the privilege of serving a wonderful regional movement of churches in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.

The GLBC exists to glorify God by strengthening so that they may reach people for Christ locally, nearby and around the world.

Talk about a Mission Impossible! Especially in this world that has gone topsy-turvy, where right is no longer right and wrong is no longer wrong, and where bad things do unfortunately happen to good people. However, what gives me hope is the same thing that has given men and women hope for over two thousand years. Even though our mission might seem impossible, we have a God who has given us as Acts 1:8, power through the ministry of the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit and who has called us out to be His people in order to proclaim the matchless grace of His gospel.

Yes, in and of itself, our mission is impossible. But with and through and by the power of God, if we choose to accept his mission for our lives and for our churches, we can and will see God's Kingdom come and His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
