| Illinois Equine Humane Center |
As you may recall, a group of Illinois horse enthusiasts started a new horse rescue and adoption organization called Illinois Equine Humane Center, NFP. Since we opened our doors in October 2008, we are proud to say that we have helped to rehome numerous horses, including thoroughbreds, warmbloods and quarterhorses. In December 2008, ILEHC was able to spread the word about a horse dispersal auction where the meat men were standing by to purchase as many horses as possible to take to slaughter. With help from many of you,ILEHC raised significant funds to purchase several of those horses and the meat men went home empty handed.
