Area IV Young Rider/Adult Rider Camp
 The 2009 Area IV Young Rider Camp will also welcome Area IV Adult Riders!  The camp will be held at Lamplight Equestrian Center July 15-18th.  Clinicians include Jonathan Holling,Adrienne Pot, Richard Lamb, and Jayne Ayers.

The Area IV Adult Riders have started the eventing season in a very winning way. At the
first Area IV Horse Trials, MCPC at Longview, ARs won 3 out of the 4 divisions
available to them, and placed well in the 4th division. Out of 23 AR competitors, 15 took
home ribbons.

Maui Jim Horse Trials Offers Novice through CIC***
Maui Jim Logo Maui Jim, Inc. of Peoria, Illinois will continue as title sponsor of the Maui Jim Horse Trials in
Wayne, Illinois July 9-12. The company is in the fourth year of a five year sponsorship
agreement, and its tremendous generosity has contributed greatly to the success of the competition. Maui Jim manufactures popular high end sunglasses that have become known as
"must have" items in the world of equestrian sport.
 

This year, Novice has been added to the line up at the Horse Trials which also features FEI (International) CIC Three, Two and One Star levels as well as National divisions of Advanced, Intermediate, Preliminary and Training. Another change will be noted in the jog for the FEI Divisions. This will take place on Thursday at 5 PM following the mandatory in barn inspections instead of at the traditional Sunday morning time.

Dunnabeck Fall '09 Horse Trial Cancelled

The site of the Dunnabeck Horse Trials in Carbondale, IL was hit by one of the many
passing storms that running through the Midwest in May. After 100+mph winds swept
through their event site, the organizers found that the cross-country tracks were littered
with many 6-8 foot diameter trees in the gallop ways.
 

The organizer's would prefer not to cancel their event, but do not think it will be possible to get everything cleared in time for the event. They plan to be back and ready to go for 2010!
 
Dunnabeck Horse Trials had been chosen to host the 2009 Area IV Championships. The 2009 Area IV Championships will now be held at Hunter Oaks Horse Trials October 10-11.

Hunter Oaks Hunter Oaks has been chosen to host the 2009 Area IV Championships. The Championships will be held in conjunction with the October 10-11 Hunter Oaks Horse Trials in Bloomington, IL.
 
Winds Reach Farm Event Derby/Dressage Schooling Show

Winds Reach Farm is hosting an Event/Jumper Derby and Dressage Schooling Show on June 20th and 21st.  Prize money and ribbons at every level up to Prelim.  Judged by Advanced Eventer Ralph Hill who will also be staying on to teach a clinic on June 22nd.  The clinic is 150.00 and includes stabling, spots are limited.

WI Equestrian Center Offers Combined Test

Bright Angel Ranch in Campbellsport, WI is pleased to host a clinic with Boyd Martin June 20-21st.

Boyd finished the 2008 year ranked 2nd on the US Eventing Association 2008
Nutrena Rider of the Year Leaderboard.!!

His accomplishments here and in his native Australia include a four-star
win, second and fourth place finishes at the 2007 Fair Hill CCI***, ninth at
the 2008 Rolex Kentucky CCI****, and numerous two-star wins including
Bromont, Stuart and Fair Hill.

Eric Dierks Clinic: June 20-21
Trott Brook Farm in Anoka, MN is offering a Rider Development Clinic with Eric Dierks June 20-21, 2009.
 
Eric has competed up to and including the four-star level. A great believer in the U.S. Pony Club, he received his graduate A in 1990. One of the first wave of graduates from the USEA Instructor Certification Program,Eric divides his time between teaching and training. He gives clinics throughout the U.S and also donates his time to the USEA outreach program, and the Young Rider Program. He served as team coach for the Area IV young riders team from 1997-1998, and 2002.

Submission Policy for Inclusion in Area IV Newsletter
 Information for inclusion in the Area IV Newsletter must be submitted to submitnews@usea4.org. The articles must be in news-ready format and attached to the email message in either pdf (preferred) or Word.  Items submitted as text within the email message will not be accepted.
 
Submission Deadlines are the 15th and the 1st of every month.
 
Articles will run once unless re-submitted. Articles will be available on the Area IV website and will be included on the Archives page for additional viewing.
 
Newsletters will be published 1-2x per month dependent upon the volume of news received.
