NAYRC Reflections
by Kaitlyn McMorris

To my surprise, trotting down center line on Thursday afternoon was not as nerve
racking as I had imagined. Did I sleep the night before? No. But for those eight or nine minutes, I was performing with my four year partner in front of judges, parents, and a lot of other young riders at the top of their game, and I couldn't have been enjoying it more. Jonathan Holling did an amazing job improving the quality of my ride. I walked out of the ring knowing that I had put forward a decent test but that with small mistakes here and there, it was not going to win. As soon as I hopped off of Peekachu, I said to myself,"I have to return next year." There was just too much unfinished business left in that ring, and too much competitiveness left in me to say that this year would be my last year.

Otter Creek Entry Fee Confusion
There has been some confusion about Otter Creek's change in fees this year.  We have combined our stabling and class fee into one flat fee.  This means that riders entry fee of $300 INCLUDES the stall and class fee.  Tack stalls are available as space allows at $130.

Other news from Otter Creek.
We've added 10 Camper hook-ups with water.  These hook-ups are conveniently located behind the new barn and will be available for rent. This spring the new barn made it's deput and allows us to run our horse shows without tent stabling.  We've also added a small size dressage arena in the warm up that is on all weather footing. We plan to set up our stadium on Friday night after dressage again which will allow riders to use the stadium ring for warm-up for dressage.

Our barns have also received some attention this year with addition of outlets for each stall- making it easy to find a place to plug in your clippers or a fan and an upgraded sound system.  We can now make barn announcements in all of the barns.

Don't forget that we will be hosting the Area IV championships this year.  Come try out Olympic Course Designer John William's courses.  Our sandy soil helps keep footing great in both dry and wet weather.  So very much worth the trip.
