| Kathy Kerns Accepts Role as Adult Rider Coordinator |
Beth Stoker, Area IV Chairman, is pleased to announce that Kathy Kerns of Belle, MO has accepted the position as the Adult Rider Coordinator for Area IV.
Kathy Kerns bought her first horse for her 25th birthday. She's never been without a horse since, and that first horse is buried on her farm. Kathy was a horse nut long before that, having sat on her great uncle's draft horse when she was 3 years old. But city living wasn't conducive to owning a real live horse, so she had Breyer horses instead (and still has them).
That first horse couldn't jump a stick, but he turned out to have an incredible talent for pulling a cart and competed in and won Combined Driving events. But Kathy wanted to jump. After a couple of false starts, she was lucky enough to acquire Whiskey Rebellion (think Teddy O'Connor at the lower levels). Attitude to the max, but the safest jumper she ever rode. Eventing was easy and giant fun with the little horse. And Kathy has been eventing ever since.
This year Kathy has to sit out competing because of back surgery in December. No jumping. So it's a good time to give back to the sport that has given her countless hours of enjoyment and many good friends. She's looking for good ideas to bring the adult riders in Area IV together. Please let her know what you'd like the organization to do for you!
How to contact her:
573-859-6551
20865 Maries Road 315
Belle, MO 65013
One last thing, no, Kathy is not giving up riding. She's looking for a dressage horse to ride 2nd/3rd level with until she can get back to eventing. | |
