Wine, Alcohol and Women's Health by Darlene Kvist, MS, CNS, LN
As a wine drinker, I limited myself to one or two glasses once or twice a week and always assumed it was beneficial or at least did no harm. However, a different message began to surface at the many nutritional conferences that I attended-a message that I believe women need to hear, a message that changed my own drinking habits. You may say to yourself, "I don't think I want to know more about the risks of alcohol because I happen to like my wine after work." On the other hand, if you really know the risks you will be more in charge of your drinking behavior. We have known for many years that women should ingest less alcohol than men-but do you know why? I always want to know the biochemical reason. Why are women at a greater risk than men for developing alcohol-related problems? cont'd to Wine, Alcohol and Women's Health
